What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

To clarify, I went with The Thing (1982). Also, Watchmen.

Re: Three Wise Guys
The Outlaw Josey Wales. That penultimate scene, with Eastwood walking forward slowly toward the red-leg captain and dry-firing his Patersons one chamber with each step... no matter what SF or horror monster you can cite, I can't think of a movie moment in which I thought more that the recipient of the action was shitting his drawers.

Re: Three Wise Guys
I havent yet seen a single one of Aarons movie choices. Hobo with a shotgun is first on my list.

I intend to. Along with The Big Lebowski.

Just edges out a similar scene in Pale Rider for best Western climax scene IMO.Mikey wrote:The Outlaw Josey Wales. Pale Rider's is far more understated though.

Re: Three Wise Guys
You've never seen it either?! Dear Lord, how our youth's education has been neglected. Phenomenal movie - the definitive revenge Western, even more so that Eastwood's Pale Rider (also a great one.) Tsu, you'd appreciate it just for the fact that it is one of few movies that depict pre-double-action revolvers actually being thumb-cocked before firing (though all the prop guns, for safety reasons, were cartridge conversions - but it's hard to tell unless you analyze it frame by frame.)Tsukiyumi wrote:I intend to. Aaron - I thought the best action scene from Pale Rider was the scene in front of the store with the axe handles.

Re: Three Wise Guys
Man I miss Eastwood as an actor, the Western genre is near dead and I can't think of anything recent that matches TOJW for things like costumes, sets, firearms, etc.

Re: Three Wise Guys
Open Range was fantastic. Otherwise, yeah not so many recently. 3:10 to Yuma remake was pretty solid.

Solid, but useless. The original is widely available and far superior.Tsukiyumi wrote:Open Range was fantastic. Otherwise, yeah not so many recently. 3:10 to Yuma remake was pretty solid.
