Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Yeah I thought it was just resigning for my lease. After I got out of the Navy, it was the apartment that kept me in Virginia. Now I don't have to stay here anymore.
I moved in this apartment when i was in the Navy because it was cheap and the apartment was large, nearly 2,000 sq ft. The apartment complex is meant for the military and low to medium income residents. However, in order to make it cheap, the IRS gives the owners a tax relief. Part of the tax relief is that the head of the household should not be a full time student. Their reasoning is that college kids may have a part time job that is minimum wage or not, but their parents would be backing them by paying for bills and credit cards etc.
My parents are not paying for anything and I am not a college kid. I lived here for three years and caused no trouble and live by myself. The people in the front office knows this and I even talked to the owner about this. Problem is that I cannot be waived or made into a special case because the IRS doesn't give a shit about me. I stay here, IRS takes away the tax breaks, the owners have to either lose tens of thousands of dollars or raise rent prices. Not worth it to keep one person, no matter how well behaved I am.
This weekend I am driving up to NJ for a Memorial Day party with the family, and there we will talk have a serious talk about my options. My cousin is a real estate agent in NJ, so he is looking into it for me. My Dad and my cousin already volunteered to help me move. I should be able to fit everything I own into a large truck, my car and my Dad's van. The truck is $451 not including gas.

Problem is I just started the semester yesterday. I have to move by the end of June and I need an extra month to finish the semester. So... I am homeless for a month.Mikey wrote:You know, it's really not that bad at all. No. Tidewater Community College doesn't have a program like that.
My idea is just put everything in storage and stay with a friend for a month if need be. The apartment front office is looking into giving me an extra month to help me out.

That's exactly what I did between leases at one point. It's not ideal, but it works in the short run.

Yeah. Oh well. Time to call in a favor if I need to.

I hope that works out well, man. They really shouldn't make it any harder to get an education.

But does it actually GO any faster when you're doing stuff with it?

My speeds are better, especially for uploads. It doesn't affect ordinary browsing so much as large file transfers.Reliant121 wrote:I get bout 30mb on that test but the main way it is only noticeable when playing online games or downloading things from steam or similar.

I get this when it chooses server location based on ping
and this when I choose the geographically closest.
I assume this is shit, though I think I have to share bandwith with an xbox 360.
