What's the latest in people's lives?

I'll likely give it a go. I got intro'd to B5 and SG on here.

Where should I start?

SF Debris pointed out four general starting points:

1. The beginning, 1963. It's... comprehensive, but there's big swaths of the First and Second Doc's episodes missing due to BBC policy of the time junking old episodes.

2. Start of the Third Doctor. Nothing is really missing starting with Pertwee, but it's still long.

3. Start of the Fourth Doctor. Baker's run is the one most US fans started with, as he's the most familiar Doctor.

4. Start of the 2005 continuation. Set up so you can get in with little/no knowledge of the previous stuff.

There's pros and cons for each one. And Seafort listed some great stuff there, too.

As stoutly American as Mark is, I'd recommend Tennant for the relaunch or Baker for the original series. Cliche perhaps, but probably the most accesible entry points... as for the rest, as many of us know, the "accesible" Doctors are just gateway drugs.

Aye, and if you're just starting a new series it's useful to be able to grab a cheap season set and go through them in slow time. I'm doing that with B5 at the moment.

I'm... selective with the TV shows I buy, for the most part. But there have been some impulse buys. Like... Whispering Smith. I dunno, it starred Audie Murphy as a railroad inspector in the old west. Not too bad, actually.

Only Chuck's reviews, which is what really piqued my curiosity. It's pretty good, although the sets are sufficiently DW-esque that I'm half expecting a pepperpot to come rolling round the corner.

I understand the feeling, but with movies/TV shows, I rarely want to see them SO BAD that I can't wait. Not only that, but I live in a studio, not much room for collections.

If I want to see something right now, I usually go to Hulu or iTunes.

Currently I'm waiting for um ...... brb "Doctor Who: The Two Doctors" and Christopher Eccleston, I believe its the full season. 13 episodes.

Ah, Eccleston's got two of my favorite episodes. 'The Empty Child' and 'The Doctor Dances'. Pure win, those two.
