You can only buy that if you put on sunglasses and blare 'Born to be Wild' from speakers while driving it, Reliant.

No, he said he didn't want a Harley. Hmm, what kind of bike would suit someone who puts on aviators and blares Foster the People? This, I think:RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:You can only buy that if you put on sunglasses and blare 'Born to be Wild' from speakers while driving it, Reliant.
(It's the 2012 Moto Guzzi California Cruiser, BTW.)

Well today (Technically yesterday) my band got an official warning for apparently causing the opposing team a false start because they evidently could not here their quarterback or something because the drumline was playing to loud.
Damn straight we're proud of that.
(For the record, the opposing team had plenty of false starts throughout the game, even after we were told to stop playing. After the warning, we stopped playing and became louder and more obnoxious in our cheering, and singing of the songs we would usually be playing.)

Who warned you? The game officials shouldn't have any say over crowd noise, of which the band should properly be considered part, and whichever competition circuit in which you compete shouldn't have any say over what you do at a game. I'd say you guys were doing your job, is all.Sonic Glitch wrote:Well today (Technically yesterday) my band got an official warning for apparently causing the opposing team a false start because they evidently could not here their quarterback or something because the drumline was playing to loud.

You're not exactly talking to a motorcycle know-how... guy... man. That was more coherent in my head.Mikey wrote:No, he said he didn't want a Harley. I just think that way for any bike. Even a Schwinn.

I just got an image of Kieran with a leather vest, do-rag with a flame job, and chaps... pedalling off to uni on a 12" bike with a basket and a little bell.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Well, there is no college competition circuit. It seems the coach complained and in the athletic conference we are in there are evidently rules about how the band can play. We once received a letter reminding us that we are not supposed to play while the game clock is irunning. Except, that clock is almost always running. In that case, our director asked the athletic department essentially, "is this for real?" to which they said: keep doing what you've always been doing. I think in this case, it wasn't the officials deciding it was our fault but the opposing coach complaining to the officials who then told us not to play.Mikey wrote:Who warned you? This is the first time we've received an official complaint during the game, but not the first time someones complained about us doing our job: In another case, sometime in the last year we received a letter from a supporter of a team we beat who essentially accused us of causing their teams loss. He said we were actively changing the mood and tenor of the game, and actually started quoting sections of the conference rule book to try and demonstrate how we were being unsportsmanlike. The one i best remember (since i am in the drum line) is accusing the drum line of actively distracting the team players because clearly we have no good reason to be warming up 5minutes before halftime (it's not like we have a show to do or anything). For the record, we were nowhere near their team bench. Overall this letter boiled down to, "you did your job so well and i resent you for it" -- our athletics department and university president came to our defense, and we took the letter as a high complement.
"All this has happened before --"
"But it doesn't have to happen again. Not if we make up our minds to change. Take a different path. Right here, right now."

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Well, my Gmail account was finally hacked. Thank you Google for alerting my that someone in Poland (where I do not live) accessed it. Been 8 years, and as a kid I was foolish and used the same password for everything. Fortunatly, I have added Gmail's 2 step verification (if an unknown computer attempts to log in, I get a text with a passcode to type in... without which the account can't be accessed). Yay Google. Also changed passwords to essential stuff...

My old man's in hospital atm. Some horrible skin rash thing that's caused severe swelling in his right arm and the rash is spreading all over his right side.
