My Sock Drawer
You all sit there, next to that huge pile of socks. Spend all the time you want searching for those two perfectly matching socks. But I'm not going to bother wasting all my time with that. I am going to slip on the first two socks I find. I grab a yellow sock with silly ducks and the second one is purple with pretty tulips. In my eyes, they match perfectly. I slip them on and proudly march around. You go ahead and give me that look as I pass you by. I don't care-I'll just smile and keep on walking. Call me crazy, if you dare ; I'll just start laughing. There's nothing you can say or do to get these socks off of my feet.
Why? You ask.
The answer is quite simple actually. I'm not going to waste my time trying to become a clone of this world. I'm different. So what? Life is more fun that way. Are you really going to try and tell me that the life of a clone is more fun? Good luck trying to make me believe that. It cannot be true, when all the time I see these "normal" people desperately trying to look like one another. No thanks-that is not the life for me. I need to run through the crowds with my yellow and purple socks. I want to be the one covered in rainbows while everyone else wears black and white.
Yeah, I'm different. I'm weird. Abnormal. Freak-ish. Crazy!! I know I am. I'll scream it from the top of my lungs.

Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
Okay, unique. Interesting little poem on conformity there.
Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
Thank you very much ^^
Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
This poem was inspired by a day when I went to school without my glasses. Here's the thing... I'm actually not allowed to do that, on doctor's orders, because without them I am legally blind.... But I'm stubborn and I did anyways... haha

Better As Blurs
by ~Zahmbe
Better as Blurs
Take my glasses off
And throw them as far as I can
I no longer want them
I want to see the world blurry and hard to see.
No more nasty glares
No more freaked out stares
Nope, no more of that
All I see are pretty things, from far, far away.
It's easier now
To walk through the streets,
I hold my head high
And smile at everyone.
Because now, they're just blobs to me;
Colorful and pretty blurs of life.

Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
I love that one.
The symbolic nature tied to the physical nature of the idea shows how frightening the real world is, especially after seeing how bad your vision is based on your glasses.
The pride that's demonstrated by ignorance and apathy over the world's issues is quite telling. Ignorance is truly bliss, it just doesn't let you in on anything.

Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
yeah....not being in on anything is kinda what ignorance is all about... just sayin' haha. but thank you. ^^
Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
alright, this was inspired when I read the "Crucible" in English class...I actually KNEW what the hell the teacher was talking about since I studied it a few years back...the rest of the class called me a witch for like...a week after that. =\

Fear
by ~Zahmbe
Fear
Are you afraid of me?
Does the fact that I don't disappear like a wallflower of society scare you?
Or is it something else?
Is it my bubbling cauldron of newts' eye and essence of dragon skin?
That's it, isn't it??
The fact that I fly a broom and own a black cat.
As I fly into the full moon, I make sure I'm cloaked in black, complete with a pointed hat.
I share an evil cackle with my witchy friends every time a poor child cries.
I've turned four of my enemies into frogs.
They're caged in my room somewhere…
Do you want to see?!
No?
Why, are you afraid?
This is what you fear?
Well then, do not blame me, for it is not I that you fear.
No.
You fear the image of me that you create.
That is not me.
What you fear is your own wild imagination,
Nothing more than simply that.

Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
I was once kicked out of a production of The Crucible.
I can't stand nothing dull
I got the high gloss luster
I'll massacre your ass as fast
as Bull offed Custer

Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
whaaaat?! why? D: what part were you supposed to play?
Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
If I remember correctly, I wrote this one, because one of my close friends was getting harassed for being gay, and he was really hurt. So in the middle of my English class, where he was and some of his antagonists, I read it aloud. I remember the heavy tension that was thick in the air... the teacher was first to comment.... on how brave I was for reading this.

Just Because....
by ~Zahmbe
Just Because
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean he's not a man.
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean you have to be mean.
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean he has to be avoided.
Just because he's gay
doesn't give you the right to laugh.
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean you should judge him.
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean he has a problem.
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean he has to put up with you.
Just because he's gay
doesn't mean he's happy

Re: Zahmbe's Poetry.
I was cast as Corey in a high-school production meant to go to a regional competition. Our adivsor/director was a complete chowderhead, and took time out of every read-through and rehearsal because she couldn't block properly or direct. When I tried to assist, I was told to go "sit and wait until I get done." So I waited, and waited, while rehearsal time slipped by and we weren't getting anywhere. So, while waiting, I lay down and had a friend pile folding chairs on my chest while I kept panting, "More weight!"Zahmbe wrote:whaaaat?! why? D: what part were you supposed to play?
I was dismissed for being "disruptive and antagonistic."
