Really? Her look is definitely ripping off Madonna, but this is the only song I've heard of her's that I could hear myself listening to back in 1985 and it seeming out of place.

It is the sax. The sax player in that song is a little-known, late tenor player who sided with George Clinton before hooking up with some New Jersey guy called "Springsteen" or something. I think his name was Clarence something-or-other.
