The American Dream

So I've got an assignment for one of my classes to define and give a speech about the idea of the American Dream and one of the ways I would like to look at it is from an outside view. So to those of us on DITL who are NOT American Citizens, have no desire or plans to be American Citizens, but know what America is I'm looking for you.

Basically I'm looking to Interview one or two people and get their views and opinion on what the American Dream is and what it means. If anyone is interested post or PM me and I'll set it up.

I've been on this retro wrestling kick lately. Its amazing how many of the greats are no longer with us. Macho Man, Junkyard Dog, Davey Boy Smith (the Brittish Bulldog), Big John Studd, Andre the Giant.

So many of the great ones have fallen.

From what I gathered the American dream was at its simplist a society with no real class system, that anyone with hard work can go from being a trolly boy at the local supermarket to a selfmade man with his own house car and even business with nothing but hard work and determination.

There is no clas system to keep you in your place.

In this sense the American dream no longer exists because that dream is just as possible now in almost any first world country. But bcak in the day, America was pretty much the only hope for the poor and lower class to make something of themselves.

You can't start as one... those surgeries are expensive, and as purely elective procedures I assume that they aren't covered by insurance.
