Re: Google +
I'm fond of the services Google gives to people for free but they seem determined to create some information control empire on the net...they sometimes come across as a bit Skynet

You missed the fine print in which they set out their own definition of "evil."shran wrote:I thought thay had a "don't do evil" thingy in their official guidelines for themselves?

One of the top guys there once described Googles mission statement as "To get as close to the creepy line as possible, but not to go over it".
"You ain't gonna get off down the trail a mile or two, and go missing your wife or something, like our last cook done, are you?"
"My wife is in hell, where I sent her. She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."

Re: Google +
Aside from all the banter.....
I quite like Google+ so far. Many people have said it's like a fusion of FB and Twitter and I can see that. It goes further than that though and integrates well with any other Google service you might use.
I hope it works out. The only thing that will stop it from succeeding is apathy. It will only work if people start using it and I fear that most of planet Earth will think.....ahhh, what's the point, I'm on Facebook/Twitter already and really can't be bothered and just don't need to add another social media stream to my life. If it fails, it'll fail because it didn't get there first. Who remembers what Buzz Aldrin's first words were when he stepped onto the moon's surface?

No wait, hang on, that's not quite right.

Re: Google +
I like it so far. The interface isn't as cluttered as Facebook's, circles are easy to organize, etc. I just don't like Facebook any more though I'd stopped using it a while before Goggle+ came along.
In response to the Google thing, when asked about digital privacy the guy in charge of Google's ethics policy replied with, "If you're doing something online you don't want other people knowing about maybe you should be doing it at all."
So keep that in mind when you consider Google and their stance on privacy. Frankly the requirement for real names is keeping with them enforcing that viewpoint.
