Anyone got any ideas for removing rust from metal? The bike is pretty heavily rusted on many of the metal bits.

WD-40 and sandpaper. Anything that can be removed and reattached, soak it in WD-40 overnight. Naturally, use common sense; anything you wouldn't put under water, don't submerge.

I agree with the above. You can also use those green scrubbie pads if the rust isn't too thick.

Kepp in mind that the rust will come back very quickly once you remove it. So you need to repaint it or constantly clean the areas.

That's fair. Both exhausts are completely shot rust wise. it's so impregnated it's going to be impossible to remove it. They still work but they are on the highest priority for replacement. Otherwise, it's mainly cosmetic rust on every other chrome surface, bar the two cylinders and the sissy-bar chrome.

Chrome's going to be a bitch; you can sand it off, but you can't really find a can of chrome Krylon. If by "exhausts" you mean the tails, your best bet is just replace 'em.

In other news, great day at Six Flags Great Adventure today. Beautiful weather, the kids had a blast, got to see the new sea lion show (before which my daughter floored the presenter by saying, "I wasn't sure if the big one was a boy - are sea lions dimorphic?") and the safari tour. That was impressive. The lions, elephants, rhinos, bison, rheas, emus, mobs of kangaroos, etc., are great - but seeing a breeding population of otherwise-extinct scimitar-horned oryx was really something else.

Yes, exhaust refers to the tail pipe. We're going to eventually. The left/bottom one is so heavily rusted it's virtually orange now. Fortunately, being a chinese bike a pair of exhausts and all the fittings are around £140 ish which is a damn sight cheaper than if it were a Jap bike.

I've always wanted to do a safari style tour. It's been years since I even went to a zoo.

Six Flags Great Adventure has what is supposedly the largest safari park outside of Africa, and has in addition to the species mentioned above all manner of graybucks, blackbucks, baboons, ankoli cattle, antelope, gazelles (including two near-extinct species,) and giraffes, as well as non-African sections with black bears, brown bears, water buffalo, Siberian tigers, butterscotch Bengal tigers, black swans, mute swans, et. al. All in breeding populations, plus a white Bengal tiger.

You can buy a drive-through tickets, or take a bus tour from the amusement park (which we did.) My dad took the fam on the drive-through tour when I was a kid, and the baboons ate the gasket from the rear windshield on our old Buick Skylark.

I've just had my college introduction day at my local college. While I think the combined english Literature/Language course is likely to be swapped for English Literature, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Especially GCSE Japanese and Government & Politics A/AS-level.

Well, my store has inventory tomorrow, where a company comes in and counts everything. I get the day off, yay! But I worked today, my normal day off to get ready for the damned thing.

Who do you use, RGIS or WIS? And how'd you get inventory day off? Are you closed for inventory, or just lucky personally?

RGIS. And I'm part of the backroom, getting merchandise ready for the floor. So I literally can't do my job on inventory day.

Lucky. I used to have to use RGIS for my inventories, and the only thing more painful than double-counting and finding their mistakes was to watch their typical employee try to count past ten without taking off his shoes.

Yeah, I've heard bad stories too where I work, like them counting patently different shampoos as one type.

I'm heading home tomorrow for the holiday. Leaving after class Friday and I'll be home all weekend, though I'll have to cut into the 4th's festivities to get back up here. Should be a nice visit, especially since, by pure coincidence my grandparents will be up here visiting from Florida this weekend too.

How'd they manage that? When they came by us, they counted by SKU's.

Well, from what I understand, one of the workers got up onto a ladder to check them on a high shelf but didn't bother to properly check the shampoo bottles themselves or match them to the SKU's.
