SFDebris
Re: SFDebris
It's sad that this has to happen because CBS has a stick up their ass, however I commend his efforts to appease them and move to whatever medium happens to work for the people. Although to be honest, I like blip a lot more than using YouTube, not sure why exactly.

Bugger. Fortunately Blip don't seem to be as up themselves, nor as eager to ignore the letter of the law in favour of bending over for the Beeb, CBS, et al.
On another note, this really isn't NPC.

He's yanking the review vids from youtube because CBS is pitching a fit and youtube is their little bitch.

Do they realize that this is free advertising and isn't this protected under fair use?

Re: SFDebris
It is protected, yes. But Youtube throw stuff off anyway if a big company complains.
Actually I can see why they would. Free speech is all very well, but youtube is owned by somebody, and if youtube gets sued that somebody will have to foot the legal bill to fight it on the basis that they might get their costs covered if they won. And they'd be expected to do this not one, but dozens of times. Yes you have a right to free speech and fair use, but you don't have a right to have other people fight for it for you.
I do feel for him though. He does great work, he's giving them free publicity, the buggers should be thanking him.

Re: SFDebris
Yes, I can understand Youtube's point. What I don't understand is CBS - much as I hate to say it, Chuck's bringing a bit of relevance to an otherwise dead issue.

Youtube is owned by Google. So yeah, they'll fold.

Re: SFDebris
Just out of curiosity, as I was poking around the SFDebris site, does anyone know where his reviews of the Trek films have gone?
