There is only one way of avoiding the war – that is the overthrow of this society. However, as we are too weak for this task, the war is inevitable. -L. Trotsky, 1939

My little 'ped arrived this morning. I've had a bit of a struggle because, embarrasingly, I have had trouble getting it on the full stand because...well...I don't weigh enough. I have to put the entirety of my body weight on the stand to even hope of doing it. (thats what you get for weighing around 119ibs).

Don't work like that, unfortunately. From what I've been told, my metabolism is around 2.5-3 times faster than it should be because of Raynauds. I eat like a pig, believe me, but I never gain weight. I've been that weight since i was around 13 and never gained since.

It's not a great thing, believe me. It's one of the reasons I can barely leave the house in winter, because body weight (and therefore body fat) is lacking so I freeze. But, at least I will be thin?

I've got a rather high metabolism too, Reliant. Always been thin, but it's starting to slow down I think.

From what my doctor has explained, it will either slow down when I'm something like 40 and I'll go on merrily becoming fatter as I am probably too stubborn to change my diet patterns. Or I will continue to burn fuel faster than a metal-to-the-pedal Corvette and die at 60 odd.

Here I thought that the only difference in cars from over there to over here was changing the side that the steering wheel of the steering wheel. I didn't realize that you guys move the floor to meet the pedal.Reliant121 wrote:metal-to-the-pedal
I'm in sort of the opposite boat - I can't metabolize carbs without outside help, but that also means that I can't react to lesser amounts in my diet; for a given dosage of insulin, I need to ingest the proper amount whether I'm hungry or not. It also means that if I'm not burning ingested carbs, my body will turn to stored fat even though I don't have much extra besides what's necessary to encapsulate other tissues. Plus, the joy of ketoacidosis if my body is in that state for any length of time. Plus, I can't eat much more than 270g of carbs a day.

Well, fairly productive so far. Laundry is going. House is cleaned. Yard is fully raked-until the next strong wind. Oil has been changed and tires rotated. Now to... try and write some more fanfiction. With the passing of Lis Sladen, I'm not sure if I've got the muse to write more of Undecim.

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.
