or a striker. if she's nimble and can handle the ball well she could just as easily see herself on the other side of the pitch.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Nope. When I said she had the footspeed to be a sweeper, it was like saying that someone had the perfect face for radio. In general, for a first-grader, her athletic ability is such that she's very lucky that she can read on a third-grade level. If she were a striker, she'd be just crossing midfield by the time the ball was already coming back the other way.Lt. Chances are that she'll play it for the season then move on to softball, then cheer, then football (if I can find a friggin' powderpuff league around here,) then spinning, then...Lt. Staplic wrote:Ah. In that ase she's actually more likely to be a holding mid/stopper.

Or join the bandMikey wrote:Chances are that she'll play it for the season then move on to softball, then cheer, then football (if I can find a friggin' powderpuff league around here,) then spinning, then...Lt. Spinning is joining the band. My wife marched color guard with the Rutgers band, Rutgers indoor guard, and Caballeros... then taught guard at Rutgers and a couple of different high schools... then judged guard (well, V.E. and guard caption) for a couple of different high school circuits. I don't think my daughter has much of a choice.

Oh I know -- I meant join the band on an instrument I'm dating a color-guard member so I know better than to make light of them. And yes, with a pedigree like that I agree, I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a choice.Mikey wrote:Spinning is joining the band. Good luck with the "band parent" thing

She wants to play the flute, but we'll see. It's tough to tell, because even a five-foot pole is too big for her right now and my wife considers swing flags to be tools of the devil.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Ahh. Bad experience with swing flags? Interestingly enough, I know several girls in colorguard who switch between the flute and the flags depending on the time of year and how they're feeling that season. Was your wife one of the judges who would mill about on the field getting in the bands way or did she watch from the sideline? (Granted, I was in the Pit so I really shouldn't complain about field judges ).Mikey wrote:She wants to play the flute, but we'll see. Back to this... it's snowing out. It's accumulating and we're supposed to get 12 inches or so.Mikey wrote:Up by you, the snow should finish melting in... what, June?RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:I'm rather anxious for the snow to finish melting to I can basically clean up the yard. No bad experience, she just considers them to have low visual impact and a low degree of skill involved... and you can't toss them. And she judged visual effect, general effect, or guard caption - from the box.Sonic Glitch wrote:Ahh. Bad experience with swing flags? Turns out there aren't any flights from Houston to Benghazi at the moment. Huh.

I'm shocked. Why, exactly, were you trying to go to Benghazi? Planning on carving out your own little empire of Prestonia?Tsukiyumi wrote:Turns out there aren't any flights from Houston to Benghazi at the moment. Huh.
