I tried Gevalia's Costa Rican peaberry coffee today, despite the fact that I normally like African and Indonesian coffees better. Well, it has a lot of the same fruity aroma as Tarrazu (which is to be expected,) but has a lower acidity and a touch of sweetness that make it feel a bit fuller-bodied than most Western Hemisphere coffees. Is that typical of peaberries?

I did that recently too. Luckily, I saw it and deleted it. I think the message was "I need a beer"

I recorded the whole series on my computer from when Cartoon network was playing it. That and Ghost in the Shell... now those were some good anime.

I think my family may have just dodged a bullet - a heavy, unjacketed one at that. My dog - approx. 12 years old at least, and about 70 lbs. - had a bout of diarrhea on Saturday night, then again on Monday. Monday night and Tuesday saw the end of that but the beginning of the vomiting - even water. Wednesday evening, the doc didn't find much on an x-ray save a slightly dense look to the lower small intestine and blood work only showed a touch of hypothyroidism. The pancreatitis test would take overnight, and then Simms vomited blood all over the exam room. Seeing that, the doc told me that unless that was a one-time irritation, it would indicate either pancreatitis... or something much worse. He gave Simms an anti-emetic and subcutaneous fluid, and sent him home with instructions for light feeding and watering today.

Well, this morning he was so thirsty that he climbed into the tub to lap at the remaining drops from my son's bath last night. I gave him an ice cube, then about a tablespoon of water every hour or so. He brought up a little water, but no blood - and the pancreatitis test was negative. The doc says this is all a good indication, and to just watch if he eats by the weekend.

I was an absolute mess last night - if it had been cancer, it would have been in either the stomach or pancreas. Either would have been fatal pretty quickly - if not the cancer, then the treatment considering Simms' age. With his temperament, I doubt he could have even survived the process of hospitalization. He gets antsy if he can't spend the night in my bedroom, much less away from us when he's sick.

That is some good news, man. Hope he keeps doing well.

Well, he just coughed up some of the special gastrointestinal-friendly food the vet sold me ( :picard: ) but seems to be doing OK with about a quarter-cup of white rice. He'll get some more of that later if he tolerates it, then rice and some boiled chicken tomorrow.

The vet actually told me that he has a big problem treating dogs like Simms. Since I don't even know what breeds are in him, I wasn't sure what that meant until the doc told me that he's just too damned tough for his own good. He won't change his typical behaviors enough to indicate a serious problem even if there is one, and would probably still try to chase rabbits if he was missing two legs.

Don't worry about it, just a spectacular failure of the "Go to Last Post" function.
