Silly tactics (I'm blaming tactical naivete) and seriously out of date ships.

I was hoping that the cloaks would be more effective in combat for hit and run tactics. I was wrong....lesson learned.

The key would be establishing a base of fire first. You have to have enough units to hold the other side at bay for a while.

The Klingon attack during operation return is a good example. It worked, but was very much assisted by the fact the Dominion was heavily engaged with Starfleet already. In general it will be hard to flank anyone if you don't fix their attention on something roughly in front of them.

And my two Profit groups were completely inadequate to do that.

When I faced the RSC in the last major battle, I had a third of my fleet engaging them directly and then the bulk of my fleet attack them from behind. But that type of attack is best used against someone who's faster then you and may try to run.

Don't sell yourself short. They did hold my attention, for the 15 seconds it took to reduce them to their constituent atoms.

Ok, on the body count leaderboard I demand Mark have an asterisk for just blowing up planets without a military goal.
