No. there is no linking of suits. There are 3 different size classes though.

If you're expanding your shipyards that reduces the amount of trade goods you get from major worlds.

Nope...haven't been. In fact, I've been adding Starbases, turning minor worlds into major ones, so if anything I should have more.
