Coming through Houston?
There is only one way of avoiding the war – that is the overthrow of this society. However, as we are too weak for this task, the war is inevitable. -L. Trotsky, 1939

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Shut up Mark. I've spent most of the day on the edge of hypothermia, all of the first half of psychology clinging to a radiator, freezing my ass off due to nordic winds. Then I see jolly Hawai'i guy come along with his optimistic weather report
Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Don't feel bad. It's actually a bit on the chilly side here.
Local Weather°F °C FridayHigh 74°/ Low 63°

Haze
Normally, we'd be up in the high 70s or low 80s.

17°C is your low? Are you kidding me? We don't always see that in summer.

Who runs the ship? We're not due to go on another cruise until August. This one goes from Southampton (UK) to New York via Norway, Iceland, Greenland and Canada.Teaos wrote:Well I just signed up for my third ship, Starts in Miami then goes around the Carabian for a month than down to Mexico, through the Panama canal then up the west caost to Alaska for 3 months before coming back the same way.
Looks to be a pretty decent contract.

There's little variation in the temperature and precipitation from summer to winter in Hawai'i, so it's never really the wrong season... unless you want to ride/see the really big surf off Oahu's North Shore. Then, you go in winter.Teaos wrote:I did look into going to Hawaii, I really want to some time soon, but ita the wrong season for it. Maybe next time.

Its the Regatta opperated by Ocenaic Cruises. A luxury cruise ship, very duiffernt to my previous 2 star ships.
While the climate doesnt change Mikey its the wrong season for ships. In Summer they do Alaska and Med while in winter they do Carabian and Hawaii and asia.

Now I see. Wrong season for you to head that way, not the wrong season to visit.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
I sometimes hate being so observant.
At the lounge I hang out in at college there's a friend of mine, who was wearing a bandanna on her arm, which for her isn't all that strange. However she's been having an overly stressful week about something, presumably family related based on her wanting to be out of the house. She also has previously been very depressed, and used cutting as a coping mechanism. And I saw some fairly fresh scars on her upper arm, which is an ideal place for cutters to cut, and kinda put all of it together.
As I said, hate being observant, although it's not all that hard to put that together, it was the fact that I actively was trying to figure it all out, it wasn't just passively noticing things and eventually putting the pieces together, it was like 5 minutes of watching the arm with the bandanna on it.
I need a new hobby, one that doesn't involve worrying about everyone else, it's too stressful...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Around here, I'd be just as worried about the habit of wearing a bandana on her arm. Wearing colors in my neck of the woods can get you hurt a lot faster - and worse - than habitual cutting.

Wasn't colors, it was a black bandanna. And it's not a habit of wearing a bandanna, but other things, usually cutoff gloves. Plus she doesn't walk the streets.Mikey wrote:Around here, I'd be just as worried about the habit of wearing a bandana on her arm.
