I'll be needing a jacket for the next few days, that's for sure.

Ah, shit. Low C grade on my psychology mock. I know psychology is a very hard GCSE subject but that's still disappointing. I had wanted at least a B in the mock. On the plus side, I know I made some screwy mistakes and know that, as always, i am trying to over-complicate things.

My parents were impressed. It tasted of food vaguely and I didn't manage to destroy a cooking apparatus. Successful day for me!

Sounds like a win. I imagine you made something quintessentially British, boiled or roasted?

This morning we got 3in of slush, now we are in the middle of a large thunder storm with ice rain and hail. Tonight and tomorrow we expect another 6in of snow. On top of that my right winter boot tore.

That's why I don't bother with "winter" boots. Steel-toed Mack boots for me, with a healthy dose of silicone spray.

We got the same slush, and are getting the snow overnight - fortunately, by the shore we were downgraded from a prediction of 6 - 8" to 2 - 4".

Bah, we're still in the 8-10. I'm really getting tired of this snowing every week.

I really don't know what we're supposed to get now.

I expected a warmer welcome from my homeland while coming back from Dominican Republic. -38 degree celcius felt, thanks a lot Quebec! Luckily, the rhum I brough back will help keep things warm. So will my girlfriend.

Deepcrush: If you want really hardy winter boots, I recommend some we make in Canada. I'd recommend Sorel boot, made in Quebec. Sturdy and warm, waterproof, and they aren't inelegant to wear. http://www.sorel.com/

Don't trust anything made outside of North America, or manufactured more south than Chicago. these people don't know how to make a good boot to survive a real winder.
