We where driving on the right side of the street, which is the left side You do know that about half the countries in the world drive on the left side don't you? We're not the only ones.

I hoped it would convey the sentiment of jest. I do know about UK, although I'd be hard pressed to name another country, except maybe India, which drives on the left side.

I'm not quite right about the number of countries but there's still a large proportion of the world on the left. Here's a map with blue showing left hand drive:


Most of south africa (no not the country the region), most of the pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and Japan.

This morning I was walking to where I parked my car, and every morning I cut through a little corner park. A lady was "walking" her dog by sitting on a bench and letting it run around off its leash. I stepped into the park the same time as another guy heading the same way. The damned dog started barking at both of us and charged. He was a bit closer, and the dog took a bite out of his leg (it was a small dog so no damage, but still), and the lady jumped up screaming at us for scaring her dog! The guy kicked the dog off and as I left they were both calling the police, him because he got bit, and her because he "attacked" her dog.

Well in the UK it would be the dog that didn't have a leg to stand on . They only get about 2 warnings about biting people and then they get put down.

Unless its a child, although not relevant. Most dogs if they bite a child with any form of viciousness or damage will be put down.

Ian - don't you have a police report to corroborate your version of the event?

Anyway, hard to tell by a pic; but if there's no frame damage, in the U.S. that would be nowhere near enough to get an insurer to total ("write off") a car.

Exactly - totaling ("writing off") a car costs the insurance company a lot more than repairing it.

A guy at work had his car creamed while it was parked. Car was 30% totaled, which is enough to declare it a total loss. Both the insurence co AND the body shop tried to pull a fast one and say they wouldn't declare it totalled unless it was more than 50% damaged.

Of course, the pass front frame was completely twisted, so they ended up having no choice.

I'm surprised how little it seems to take in the UK to get a car written off, here in the US an insurance company will latch onto any possible excuse (translation: BS as hard as they need to) not to.

Went out to get my dogs some water this morning, and found out what they'd been barking about at 5AM: they killed and mostly ate a possum.

At first, I thought they'd killed a neighborhood cat, but that leathery tail and giant freakin' teeth are a dead giveaway for a possum.

I would've taken pictures, but I had to bag that sucker up to get it out to the street before garbage pickup.

Are you sure it's dead? My dog got one in the back yard once - Simms had the thing by the neck and shook it until I heard bones crack. Well, I got the dog inside and got ready to clean up the body when my wife asked how funny it would be if it were "playing possum." I said that I know they do, but I heard the thing's neck break. When I went outside with shovel and bag, the damned thing had taken off.

Anyway, a booster shot may be in order for your dogs.

Oh, no. It's dead. They ate most of it's nether regions and all of the meat from it's torso. Pretty much, it was just a head, the front legs and the tail.

Definitely. However, the Possum appears to be the most rabies-resistant mammal in the world, due to it's low body temperature. At least, if you trust numerous internet sources.
