Did we ever come up with a way to "recycle" materials from scrapped ships? I've got a bunch of antiques that I can't do anything with, that even if I scrapped for 1 credit per point of combat power would be more useful than they are now.

No, there is no active system in Beta for such activities; however if you are willing to risk the reaction of the Federation the Orions will buy anything.

I should also clarify OOC: the orions are not some power that I'm controlling, OOC they have no agenda, no goals, no anything. They are simply a black-market middle man. They will deal in what they have, you can contract them to try and find buyers for your products, or to find sellers for your needs. They're even open for a little mercinary business.

The thing to keep in mind with them is that they do charge a mark up, the price of secrecy so to speak, and there is always a possibility that they will take your money, and the items and run. Since I constructed them mainly as a middle man the likely hood is low but it does increase with the prestige of the device (i.e. using the Orions to transfer phaser emitters of a low to medium quality, will likely not even motivate them to think of stealing, using them to transfer quantum torpedoes will require a random roll, moving transphasic torpedoes or other such one of a kind tech will yield almost 50-50 chance they'll just take it.)
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Everyone would probably do well to consider that selling warships to the Orions is like a power on earth today selling a 1960's guided missile destroyer to the freaking Mafia. Just think how far that excuse would fly if the ship in question ended up off the coast of some nation lobbing shells at costal towns.

Let me propose a modification. Lets ascribe a scrap value to ships (perhaps in relation to mass/CR). We can recycle certain parts of of the ships to reduce costs building new stuff.

That way we have something to DO with these old ass ships.

Dilithium mines of Remus, so in about 20 years we can expect one of them to take over the Romulan government and attack the Fed with a WMD?
