I dunno.. I mean, making fun of Star Trek fans because of their tendencies to correct the mistakes of other isn't restricted to the Trek fanbase. Imagine the number of people correcting me within a minute of a post in the giantitp.com forum when I mentionned that Avatar : the Last Airbender was an "anime". I mean, I made a 9-paragraph review of the movie, and the only thing they could say was "it's not an anime!"thelordharry wrote:I love Star Trek and I probably know more about it than the average person in the street but it stops at getting annoyed at people who take the piss out of it They probably like Britain's (not) Got Talent and X Factor or reality TV shows and I know which one of us is getting more value for money...
See the reaction of any enthousiast sport fan when you completely report wrong your sportsfacts about his favourite sport/team. He will be all over you, pointing out the mistake, and how stupid you are for not checking it up.
Taking potshots at Trekkies is easier because we are more marginal, but any freaking fanbase react the same way.
