Super poblanos, eh? I'm thinking extra-hot chile relleno. :Drool1:

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is a chile relleno. However, with the flavor of a poblano and heat somewhere between jalapeño and habanero, I'm thinking "wing sauce."

Ugh, wings. Someone made a fortune off convincing the general public that the crappiest part of the chicken was somehow the pinnacle of game time foods.

It's not just a question of whether it's the crappiest part. It's also a matter of what makes for the easiest finger food, easiest prep, and what mates well with the type of cooking. White meat wouldn't hold up as well to the sorts of sauces we're talking about, and chicken breasts wouldn't make for as convenient a finger food. Don't forget, you can hold the flat of the wing by the joint, stick it in your mouth, and easily remove all the meat while removing the bone cleanly.

I prefer pizza or nachos for party food, personally.

I'll take slightly more difficult to eat over something that's convenient but you wouldn't consume without first slathering in a sauce.

I'd prefer beluga caviar and ice-cold Stoli, but we can't always get what we want.

The sauce isn't there to make the wings palatable; the wings are there to serve as a vehicle for the sauce.

I take deep personal offense to the concept of any meat serving as only a vehicle for a sauce. To reduce meat to the level of french fries (the cheap ass kind) is an insult to carnivores.

I consider myself to be a true caveman when it comes to meat, but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate the other food group - that is, a six-digit count of Scoville units. I'm not talking about just classic Buffalo wings - they only use a sauce based on cayenne peppers, which is barely hot enough to make we want another pull of my beer.

I like my sauce, but I prefer true Bar-B-Que where a fine piece of meat is properly prepared and sauce is part of the experience, not the end unto itself.

Eh, not worth arguing about. Long story short I hate wings.

I'm sorta guessing I'm a bit of a minority in that I'd probably be vegetarian if I wasn't pragmatic about meat. I know that it's difficult to replace a lot of the protein nutrients without a shit load of beans and other pulses (or protein shakes of course) and while I'm still in development I can't really afford to lose that critical protein intake. Plus, its a hassle with meat-eating parents. I don't really like eating meat, taste doesn't really fuss me and I hate what it actually is (yeah I know, soft soppy hippy shit) but I know that in this stage of life it isn't practical.

OK, I'll cancel that package. ;)

Now, a nice BBQ sauce on some burnt ends is a different topic. I'm kind of a maverick, though - I dry-rub my ribs. Laugh if you want, but I can cook 'em on direct heat, and they get a beautiful crust and a taste that'll make you slap your granny.

It's not really hippie shit if that's your true take on the matter. I consider it like a sexual preference; whatever works for you is fine and I have no issues with you living like you want to - just don't ask me to personally understand it. If the good Lord didn't want us to eat cows and hogs, He'd have made them faster, smarter, more dangerous, or less delicious.

I've had this debate a thousand times with myself. Still haven't quite come up with an answer save "I don't want to eat dead animals."

Human mind is annoyingly odd.
