Rutgers University homecoming was Saturday. A lot of fun was had by all - there were lots of pre-game rides and games for the kids, all sorts of free swag from the various campus and alumni organizations, and some decent tailgating food. Plus, my little girl got to go and march on field with my wife and sis-in-law for the band alumni performance. The day was only marred by the result of the game and (more importantly and seriously) a moment of silence observed for Tyler Clementi.

For those who haven't heard, Tyler was a young Rutgers student who was involuntarily and unknowingly taped having a homosexual encounter by his roommmate and another "friend." These two sickos then posted the video online, thus outing Tyler against his will. A couple of days later, Tyler jumped off of the George Washington Bridge.

Well, they had to move my mom back into ICU last night; apparently, fluid is built up around her lungs. This is on top of the colitis and apparently, her liver is also "burnt out". Now, they have to wait for her to stabilize before they can do anything.

This isn't looking good.

Doctor asked me why we didn't have her checked out sooner... Uh, no money, no insurance. Simple.

"Burnt out" is the technical term they used to describe your mom's liver function? :bangwall:

Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with her.

Thanks, Mikey.

And yeah, that was what he said at first; I asked "cirrhosis", and he said yes. :|

Yeah, good ol' Dr. Muhammad. He even asked if I was Mr. Robert, Preston.

Guess he missed the "s" at the end.

Your Dr. Muhammad is named Dr. Nguyen over here.

Anyway. I went to Magog (a small town near lakes and mountains of the Quebec Appalachians) during the week-end. A friend of my gf has access to a chalet (shack?) there, near a lake. With a bunch of friends of my gf, and their brother/sister/cousins, ended up with a total of about 14 Pinoys (including 3 metis) and 1 Quebecois :-)

(Pinoy = Filipino, for the uninitiated)

Good alcohol (brough some Appleton Estate rhum myself), good food and smokes all around. Oh god, the food! Saussage, 2-inches think bacon marinated in BBQ sauce, chicken, fishes caught locally marinated in beer, regular fish, steaks, rice, mussles, meatballs, shrimps..

Went fishing on the nearby lake. Everything was soooo quiet.. beautiful lake, seriously. (Named Lovering, google it!). 2 fishing sessions. Saturday's was cold and fishless, but we had fun. Sunday's was sunny, warm, and no wind at all. We went there at 10 AM. I put a lure on top of the rod, a metallic twirling one, 'thought it'd be better with all that sun.

I turn around my buddy and GF (who discovered she likes to fish!), wishing them "good luck, good fishing!". And I cast for the first time of the day.

2 second later, I start pulling a fish back. Yay! A small, 1-pound pike, but still a catch! The only "real" catch of the whole week-end, on the first fucking cast! That was so nice.

Anyway, the week-end was relaxing. I guess I really needed the relaxation. Got to meet an audio-engineer who I think will be perfect in a team I'd put up when I'll get working on video-game project financing.

Uzume is a long term member, but she's plagued with internet connection problems even while Tsukiyumi tries to...counter these issues.

The "free gun with every six-pack" state.

In other news, I was getting my six-year-old ready for school this morning. I told her to begin brushing her teeth, and she remained stock still. I asked her again, and again no response. Finally beginning to get annoyed, I said, "What are you doing?!" She slowly turned her head to face me, and deliberately said, "I'm messing with your mind... you know, psychologically."
