::: Fancy official looking transmission to all powers :::
The Turei Star Empire has reached an impasse. We have done what we can to improve our lot in the universe following the time under Praetor Alak'ai. We have rebuilt, we have traded, for a time we have flourished. But we cannot progress any further. Not with the horribly efficient, yet blood stained government that we have at this time. The Imperial dictatorship society we live in is a stain on our racial history. And as such it cannot remain.
At the beginning of the next year, the current government will be dissolved. All government policies, members and current laws will be removed in favour of a newer, fairer and more free society. The titles will remain. The senate will remain the Senate, however it will be filled with voted representatives. The people will have a true say in policies and in the government. We will regain the mercantile empire we once dominated.
As such, the Turei High Republic shall be born.
We will be sending messages to several empires around the reduction in trade going out to other empires. We must cut back our trade as production shall be reduced during our period of transition, however a significant improvement on our trade output will befall our people after the three year transitional period.
Our fleet has been reduced in deployment for cost cutting measures. We must ask other powers to respect this time of turbulence for the new republic.

This isn't a collapse, so much as a restructuring.

But once. The government has changed its form, to be sure, but it has only suffered a single collapse. However, we understand you're....question.
:: stands and inclines head ::
Surely you should appreciate our move to remove the antithesis of a military imposed government.

We do, but nevertheless, your govenmental changes are enough to drive this Cardassian to drink.
Will you be withdrawing from contracts and treaties again?

Of course not. We will maintain all treaties as best we can with limited finances.

The only thing that shall be effected are our two biggest trade partners, our neighbours the Breen and the Ferengi. It is merely a reduction in trade output. besides that, nothing shall change.

::: Official announcement :::
The Vanguard Flotilla fleetyards have made it clear, with the backing of the financial advisors, that they wish to produce a catalog of vessels available for export. We will be producing such catalog, with specifications (although some shall be omitted of course for classification purposes). There are one or two designs that we are unable to export, and they shall not be included. We will also place up some proposed designs for observation.
This comes as our nation maneuvers itself back to its merchant routes. We have little or no interest in conflict or war, nor in maintaining a massive fleet. We wish to open our space to trade, manufacture and design.
As such, we have given a degree of autonomy to the many design bureaus that are maintained by the government. They are capable of designing vessels independently, with each races feel and purposes in mind. At cost of course, the High Republic will sponsor the design of these vessels and provide them to their respective buyers.
We understand that a number of the races will see this as an odd move, either with little purpose or they find the openness of its ideals preposterous. So be it. To function properly as at trade empire, we must open our space and make it accessable. This is one step toward it.
We hope to expand on this more in the future.

*Emergency comm-link, Klingon Defense Force*
*Supreme Commander Kurn of Mogh, House Martok*
As you are all well aware, there has been an attack on the Klingon Empire. Our homeworld has been prey to cowardly action by the Romulan Confederation! A Romulan Cruiser, Norexan Class rammed itself into the capital district of Qonos. Among our fallen, eight billion citizens, the High Council and our Emperor. Martok the Honorable is lost, now and forever he is Martok the Eternal. Our eternal reminder of what dangers slim their ways through the galaxy.
AS OF NOW! I, Kurn son of Mogh of the House Martok, have assumed command of the Klingon Empire and by the Right of Succession I am Chancellor.

:: Note: shortly after the Federation News Report ::
*The Chief Executive of the Romulan Star Confederation*
This is a sad day for us all. For several years, the Romulan people have forced themselves to come to terms with history. We have worked hard to bring peace between ourselves and the Klingon Empire, to atone for the sins of our past leaders. In one day, one short moment, that all may have been undone.
A few hours ago, we received word that one of our Norexan class cruisers ceased communications and vanished from sensors. Then we heard the news about QonoS.
After a hurried, but thorough, investigation we have determined that this act was not perpetrated by the Tal'Shiar, nor could it have been.
The Tal'Shiar no longer exist in our space.
We no longer have cloaking devices on our ships, nor do any such devices exist within the Confederation. The device on that ship must have come from outside Romulan space.
During the investigation, two other captains had reported that they were approached with an offer to defect, for a large sum of credits. They were approached by a Cardassian agent.
We cannot understand why this has happened. Why we have been targeted as the scapegoat for the Cardassians plans, whatever they may be, will haunt us for years to come.
At this time, all Romulan borders are closed to unregistered traffic. All registered traffic will be escorted. All Romulan dignitaries abroad are recalled. The Romulan Star Confederation can do no more. It is now out of our hands.

:::Incoming message from the President of the Cardassian Union:::
It has been churlishly stated by the Romulan government that Cardassia was behind the cowardly assassination of the Klingon Emperor. Aside from a complete lack of a motive for this clandestine attack, is also a complete lack of competence that one should not attribute to the Cardassian Union. We understand that the government of Romulas is now desperate, with retaliation from the Klingons imminent, but these baseless accusations are not what your government should be focusing on. The Cardassian Union had no part in this atrocity, nor did any member of the ISA.

We demand an explanation from the Romulan confederation. A believable one. This act of...terrorism is a vile abomination, and the people responsible must stand for it. Our allies discussed nothing of this plan to us. If they had it would be denounced as an unholy act of war. You have a lot to answer for, chief executive!

Re: Alpha SIM IC Thread
We of the Breen Confederacy mourn for those warriors who died without meeting their end in battle, and vow to stand beside the Klingon Empire during this time of crisis. May all those guilty of this atrocity meet their end under Klingon blades, or in a blaze of disruptor fire. May their cities be razed, and their children enslaved so that they will remember the shame of their people's cowardly acts for generations.
We stand ready.
We stand ready.
