Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I was being sarcastic. The more torpedoes you can fire the faster the better. At the GM's discretion there are upper limits to what can be handled without doing R&D on advanced handling systems such as onboard torp replication and manufacturing and so on.Tyyr wrote:Explano por favor.BigJKU316 wrote:Since you likely have upgraded your torpedo tubes to a blistering 4 rounds per second (really there is no reason to go higher than that I promise)
The key is to remember that its giving a ROF for an emplacement rather than a traditional tube necessarily. The R&D calculator will let you make something that shoots 50 rounds a second (or more, its effectively unlimited). It would likely not be a tube but possible a metal storm or gatling type launcher. It will be incredibly expensive though.

I had a feeling it was sarcasm but I wanted to check before I went off into torpedo machine gun land.

I had this vision of a rapid burst fire gatling torp launcher 8)

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I always found it odd they did not use more of a VLS type system. It would make the most sense to me on a Ship like the Akira to have a couple of multi-cell launchers to allow you to really ripple fire the weapons. Reload would be slower but I would rather have a dozen Akiras unload say 300 torps a piece in about 10 seconds than have them fire at a slower rate.Tyyr wrote:I had a feeling it was sarcasm but I wanted to check before I went off into torpedo machine gun land.
Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
Fed Starships aren't nessessarily designed to work in groups, like Cardassian ships. I can understand a slightly slower rate of fire in exchange for a quicker reload time for a ship on its own.
Now, for ships designed to work in task forces yes.........it makes sense.

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
Given the size of torpedoes and their respective launcher they really represent the fastest and most clandestine way Starfleet could add some serious firepower to the fleet. Why they insisted on only a single launcher until the Sovereigns I have no clue.
Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
The same reason they only carry one communicator and one phaser, no matter how easily and often they get taken away.
But, point of fact, they usually have two. the forward one, and the aft one..........ala submarines.

Yes, but usually only one in the firing arc.Mark wrote:But, point of fact, they usually have two. the forward one, and the aft one..........ala submarines.
Actually strike that. The Ent-A had two side by side. Have we seen an Excelsior firing torps?

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
alright, I have 3 sheets left to do, and two of them still need to be turned in......I'm expecting both of them around 4-5 my time after school lets out.

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I'm curious. Do you and Big need to have all the sheets turned in before you can do them? Or do you do them piecemeal?

Yes, in TUC......Excelsior had two forward firing tubes, same as E-Nil and E-A

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I think BIG waits till he has all of them, I'll do them piecemeal, for the most part. There are some that it doesn't matter when i get it, it's the last one I do because of certain issues.Mark wrote:I'm curious. However I will wait until I have all sheets in and turned over to send them back out.Tyyr wrote:Yes... because I want my nerd toy back ASAP.Mark wrote:I'm curious. Do you and Big need to have all the sheets turned in before you can do them? Or do you do them piecemeal?
