Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I've done it several times in the Alpha Sim, just make sure you plan it well.

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I'm not too worried about that. I'm easily making more than I spend (though may not be enough profit to satisfy the business folks, yet).
Now a stupid question... how would a deal work where someone makes use of another persons facilities (shipyards specifically)?
Also, are we going to implement the resources from the other sim?

Eventually yes we will be.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
In the other sim we have a lease. You pay so much for either a partial (you both share the yard) or total (you alone have access) for a set number of years.stitch626 wrote:I'm not too worried about that. I assume we need to input our own yearly loan income?
Oh and Big, you really need to work on your "Rah Rah Democracy!" spiel.

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
Big brought up a good point about trade. Does it automatically follow the most direct route? My assumption was that unless arrangements were made it would travel around neighboring powers? For instance if I initiated trade between the Cardassians and the Klingons the ships would have to travel south, outside the Federation to get there and trade, not just plow right through the UFP.
Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I'm liking how much we've changed this from the Alpha, means it will be interesting as opposed to the same or even running off the same ideals of the Alpha thread.

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
I've honestly paid little real attention to the other sim and from what I have seen I've got other ideas on how I want to run things in terms of the Cardassians. The big thing is different people playing the various powers. You get different perspectives on what each power should be doing.

Unfortunately no. If it follows the same rules as the Alpha, it is assumed to travel the most direct route. If it is forced to go ROUND a territory for whatever reason, the trade route loses some of its value. If it is 50%+ longer than the original trade route would have been then, as per the rules, its simply not economically viable and therefore cannot be used.Tyyr wrote:Big brought up a good point about trade. For instance, I want to put a route through to the Tholians meaning I need to navigate through Fed space. If permission is denied, since it adds a whole heap of distance onto the trade route it then becomes economically nonviable and therefore is an impossibility in the games rules.

Re: BETA SIM OOC THREAD
It has to do with the use of fuel. Simply put if you double the distance you double the cost to transport something. Rather than mess with having to trade specific things its abstracted into trade points that are assumed to be good of sufficient value to merit trade with any other power. But very few goods can absorb an increase in transport cost of 100% and still keep a price point that makes them worth moving.Reliant121 wrote:Unfortunately no. And yes, trade routes are assumed to be direct. You can lengthen them a reasonable distance without penalty, but if they get too long you just can't get merchants to run the route.
