Get Mayweather in and give him some lines for a change. :D

It would be neat to meet some of the original Enterprise crew (maybe as teachers at the academy, or high-ranking officers that we meet over the course of the movie, etc). Of course they would have to be re-cast, as it is around eighty years later. But Mayweather would probably be young enough that it might be possible, or T'Pol, etc.

After I posted that I thought it might actually be a good idea to have some known people in it. Helps establish a link.

It would be nice to see some familiar faces in the film.

The big issue I have with this movie is according to cannon Kirk and Spock wernt in the academy together. I have a bad feeling that they will ignore cannon like they have done over and over with TNG and Enterprise. Considering the garbage thats been rolled out for Star Trek movies in the past I dare say this will be more of the same.

Yes, how they deal with that will be interesting and will say a lot about how the writers intend to deal with the canon. They've said that they intend to be "very faithful" to it, but the idea of them being in the academy together could be interesting (and not in a good way :( )

I honestly wouldn't mind to much since I am not as big a fan of TOS as the others but then I hate it when they screw over canon. As it is I doubt I will like this movie.

According to Memory Alpha (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Main_Page) Zachary Quinto is going to play Spock, "pending finalization of his deal with Paramount Pictures".

I never watched Heros, but he certainly looks the part.

This quote from the above site does not give me a good feeling.

"In an interview posted 8 March 2007, MTV stated that Kurtzman and Orci had confirmed that this Star Trek would be a "reimagining of the franchise" and not merely a prequel"

I hope this doesnt end up being another Godzilla. We all know how Hollywood loves to destroy a good thing.

No, no, no.

That worked with BSG (outside a few "GINO" whingers) because there was an extremely limited canon of a fairly obscure series. If they try pulling the same stunt with Star Trek, an extremely well established franchise with 700+ hours of canon, it simply won't work. There's too much water under the bridge to just sweep it away saying "we're starting over."

Oh dear god no!

Isn't that what they said about Enterprise?

They didn't say they were going to do it to Enterprise they just did.

There's been news about Trek XI. Zachary Quinto has been confirmed as the younger Spock, and apparently Leonard Nimoy has a cameo as an elderly Spock.
