Someone's a little cranky. The force fields would open, because if they failed the whole bay would've been vented. The captain wasn't biased, just confused about what happened, and happened to have the papers for the adoption. And the ship is legally mine. Ordering me to park it somewhere else, away from the ship is a far more reasonable and legal option.Mikey wrote:Am I the only one here who thinks that Blackstar just makes up sh** in order to invalidate anything anyone else has said? Your ship just magically, for all intents and purposes, disarming all the weapons just because you didn't like how Rochey's post went?
And writing the captain biased toward your side is really absolutely ridiculous. If you think of posting something with Fletcher actually upholding or validating your actions on the away mission, I would rather quit this essay than try to rationalize it.
The adoption may be legal; however, don't forget that it is so because of the procedure you performed which was in violation of general procedures; of a lieutenant commander's standing orders; and of a commander's direct orders. It doesn't invalidate the adoption; but it does make you criminally insubordinate and mutinous.
BTW, how did you get your craft out of the hangar bay? The doors a/o force fields would have closed behind us when we embarked, and to release them would be under the control of the flight deck officer. And don't hand us any more of that crap about Sally being able to magically do it in defiance of all common sense.
While talking about unrealistic twists, I doubt the captain would readily agree to destroying my ship.
So unless I can convince the captain to parden me, or get the Commander and Lt. Commander to drop their charges against me there are still two options for me to continue with this character.
1)Civilian asset. Let's them risk an 'expendable' mercenary rather then risk a Starfleet officer.
2) Start that spin-off RPG

Who says he'll have to know in advance? It could easily 'slip my mind' to inform him of that part of my plan to bring you into custody. Sure, I'll be in some slight trouble over not telling him and leaving a pile of scrap metal in the middle of the hanger bay, but it's well worth it for me.While talking about unrealistic twists, I doubt the captain would readily agree to destroying my ship.
"You've all been selected for this mission because you each have a special skill. Professor Hawking, John Leslie, Phil Neville, the Wu-Tang Clan, Usher, the Sugar Puffs Monster and Daniel Day-Lewis! Welcome to Operation MindFuck!"
See, the problem I've been having with this, and the reason I haven't posted anymore, is the fact that the story seems to be all about Blackstar. We are supposed to be the crew of the USS Daystrom, doing stuff together, using our collective skill, not going off rogue and doing whatever the hell we feel like.

like how my contacts 'sliped my mind'. Hey pot, I'm kettle, you're black.Rochey wrote:Who says he'll have to know in advance? And DarkOmen, the reason why it seems to be about me, is because I'm the only one doing anything independent. It took four days of no posting before we landed and I still had to double post for that to happen. Besides, unless I find a way out of this, my character won't be in any power at all on the daystrom. At least not for a while since I'll either be flying off AWOL or in the brig, unless I can get the Tholian off my backs. Besides, most episodes tend to focus on a few characters at a time. Next time we have a major event, like the away mission, we can have other characters, like yours be the center of attention. Um...who is your character again? I've forgotten.

Hey, I never said the Commander wasn't hypocritical or manipulative. The simple fact is that he can get away with that excuse, and he's going to make sure you don't.like how my contacts 'sliped my mind'. Hey pot, I'm kettle, you're black.
It's unfair, yeah, but that's just how he is.
Also; DarkOmen's character is Dr Sarin (I think?) Taal, the chief medical officer.

Oh, ya. The trill, I remember now. You, know Trek doctors seem to get more character development then I would think is normally possible.Rochey wrote:Hey, I never said the Commander wasn't hypocritical or manipulative. Dark - I actually try, while my character is aboard, to leave options open for everyone to add on to what I've written - for example, I've referenced the medical staff being present and taking part in the care of the "kitten" - while I may not have referenced you by name, you are the manifestation of the medical department aboard this ship.
Blackstar - I'm not cranky... I just have, along with others here, abided by the roleplaying constraints of a character who is an officer; rather than ignoring those constraints and then using a never-ending string of dei ex machina in order to nullify any consequences. If you didn't want to play a member of Starfleet, you should have set that out from the beginning; I don't think anyone would have minded.
BTW -
That's an academic point now, since you've obviously left without any regard to the rationality of that point. In the big picture, though, all I'd really like is actual roleplaying and logical progression, rather than the constant use of the (at the risk of repeating myself) deus ex machina.
And don't blame Rochey entirely - I was the one who discussed destroying your ship.

I guess I'll have to be more careful about deus ex machina.
And we have seen form-fitting(for a lack of better term) force-fields before in Voyager. It would be logical for them to be automatic since a ship forcing it's way out would knock out that force field, venting the whole bay.
And if you really think my character is 'too strong' just wait until my next post.
