These types don't deliver too much poison - only enough to stun a very small fish. The effects we suffered were a burn, similar to a very bad sunburn but in a localized area, followed by a few hours of tenderness sensitivity, and "pins and needles."

And you have been poisoned, if you've ever been stung by a bee or bitten by a mosquito.

Never by a bee, but yes. By a mosquito.

The closest I've come was a little group of absolutely tiny jellyfish out of priddys hard near a group of derelict freighters in Portsmouth harbour. Creepy things.

Aren't jellyfish really colonies of other creatures?

One of those suckers got me after it had died and washed up on the beach. Apparently, the tentacles keep working even after death... :x

Hey! Maybe this oil spill will wipe those bast*rds out! Then, I'll have my revenge!!!

In other news, I spent three days at Uzume's new house. Nice place, honestly. The frakking couch killed my back, though; I've spent the last two days sleeping.

Yep. The reisdual itch is caused by an anticoagulant toxin which allows the mosquito to keep feeding when the blood would normally clot.

Not as far as I know.

Yep, the nematocysts won't lose their potency until they naturally decay, and they are fired by mechanical triggers rather than an effort on the part of the beastie. Doesn't help that those particular tentacles can be measured in dozens of meters if not more.

No, jellyfish are Cnidarians and are their own life form as much as any other complex life composed of cells are. Jellyfish are really simple though. An easy way to think of them is their organized up to having tissues but really no further.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I've always envisaged them as complex biological lifeforms, but someone decided to take the lightbulbs out upstairs.

Well, today we are remodeling the parents bedroom, basically we'll be up there all day, and I am going to be beyond sore at the end of the day. But I guess it'll be worth it. We are remodeling entirely, taking out the bed and remaking it, and redoing the floor, everything, this is not going to be fun.

Not all in the same day mind you. Now we also have to replace one of the windows because the outside is being eaten away by moss. Mind you, the window is older than I am, and wasn't put in very well. Now if my dad had been the one who put it in, it would still look new.

One hand wrapped, the other numb from a spider... and a bit of delirium. Debating whether I should take Benadryl or not to counter the allergy.

Yeah, probably better not to in order to stay awake.

And yes Reliant, my dad loves DIY and is good at it too. He can fix anything, literally, he has any skill anyone could ever need.

Some of them, but they are a separate group entirely, just having the same appearance. The portogese men-o'-war is in fact a collection of organisms as far as I remember, made op of four different organisms sticking together.
