Some of it is more mellow, and some makes that one sound like "Claire de Lune."

I love any music thats fast, within reason. And that's just...remarkable. The skill that must take to keep up with all the changes.

Heh - I'm not a big fan of C&W, but following is a track by one of the most virtuosic musicians on any instrument. You want syncopations and changes - check out the riff after the second verse:Reliant121 wrote:I love any music thats fast, within reason. And that's just...remarkable. Yeah, I know, Primus sucks. But there is nobody in Primus with the skill on their instrument that Charlie has on the fiddle. Hell, I would say Claypool is maybe in the top 5 rock bassists, and if so just barely.

The devil on what looked like a Schwinn cruiser of some form is an entirely amusing sight.

Brian Ritchie, Geddy Lee, Flea, Jaco Pastorius (you could call him a jazz musician, so that maybe a gimme,) Bootsy Collins, and #1 in pop/rock bassists:
John Norwood Fisher, the bassist from Fishbone. An example. The bass isn't mixed up front in the production like Primus' music, but if you can't tell then check out the riffs at about 2:50 in.
*EDIT* this is in references to bass guitars, obviously. String bass players is an entirely different story.

Of course I can tell; I'm a bass player.
Maybe it's just Claypool's style that I like so much.

I'll qualify Ritchie - I don't think I've ever heard him play an electric bass. He is, however, probably the only rock musician I've ever heard regularly play an acoustic bass guitar.
a video of Ritchie live, doing things which make luthiers cry.

The Charlie Daniels original is far superior, IMHO. Then again, I like country music. So *Shrugs*Mikey wrote:Yeah, I know, Primus sucks. Re: Music you like.
I might throw Jon Entwhistle into that mix, too. Like his bandmate Townshend, he was always more about rhythm and song structure than flashy riffs... but you've got to have skills if you can keep shit together when your mate in the rhythm section is Keith Moon.

On a completely different front, you might then also like the Chemical BrothersReliant121 wrote:I love any music thats fast, within reason. And that's just...remarkable. The skill that must take to keep up with all the changes.
