The Ranting Thread
Re: The Ranting Thread
Well, I chilled with two girls I know that live near me, and we basically talked about the outrage at a******s that talked crap about the senior that hit the kid, because it was determined she was not at fault, at all, and people were talking crap about her, saying they were going to beat her up, and crap like that, and if someone actually said that to me, I would have decked the, for being a) disrespectful and b) for being complete jerk about it. It was no ones fault, and you have no right to say crap. I mean she felt so bad yesterday, she was flipping out when it happened, and my biggest fear, especially if people are like this is that she will actually start to believe it was her fault, I mean as it is I doubt she will drive for like forever, and if people are like this I fear she may actually kill herself over this, and that would be the worst thing that could happen in light of this.
Overall I just wish that people had respect for those who were in crappy situations. I mean, she feels just as bad if not worse than the family that lost the kid, because she 'caused' it by being where she was, and I don't know how well she would be able to handle anything from anyone.
Life sucks. And death is sadly the only way to get away getting depressed by it all.
Tomorrow I will likely go to the memorial they will be holding, out of respect for them, and to give condolences etcetera. No one deserves this. Ever.

Deep breath, man. I've gone through similar things myself.
Just make sure that someone tells the girl it was just a horrible accident. She will feel guilty about it, but it sounds like it totally was not her fault. Just be completely honest and open, and hold her. She'll need it.
And, Nick, sometimes it sucks being the good guy, but someone has to do it. Who better than you?

I have no problem being the good guy, and I refuse to let her get shit for it, sadly I doubt I'll even see her the rest of the year to help her with any of it, I was never a really great friend of hers, but it's never stopped me from starting to get to know people. And yeah Tsu, it's not even like there's anything anyone could have done, it was completely not her fault, and not his either, it was an accident, a horrible one, but still, no one is to blame.
If I see her any time I will let her know that I can always listen if nothing else. At least I'm good at listening.

Hey, at least you actually care. That's something most people can't honestly claim.

Indeed, you have a rare and incredibly endearing sense of caring. Don't let others put you off using it.

Yeah, I'll definitely make sure she knows that I care and that I'm always available.

In a situation like this, knowing that someone is willing to listen without judging may be all that she needs, even if she doesn't end up actually taking advantage of it.

In more inane bitching, why do people treat the escalator like a ride? I can get the upside, sort of, but when grown men get on a descending escalator and just stop... I can't fathom just how lazy that shit is.

I've been telling my friends and family for years, escalators need to be wide enough to have a passing lane.Tyyr wrote:In more inane bitching, why do people treat the escalator like a ride? That's odd, we on the other side of life, just can see why you need to be anywhere so quickly. If I'm in a hurry then I'll walk the escalator, up or down, if not then I don't. After all if you're not lazy use the stairs, in the UK there's often a set right next to the escalator.Tyyr wrote:In more inane bitching, why do people treat the escalator like a ride? Re: The Ranting Thread
Except you can get there quicker using the escalator and walking up or down it faster than the stairs. And it depends on where you are if the stairs are close to the escalators or if there even are any stairs period. After all a broken down escalator is just a set of stairs. The mall where I was staying for a business trip was like this, tons of escalators, one or two sets of actual stairs.
And its not about getting their quick so much as it's just about being a lazy and inconsiderate shit. I mean honestly, is it such a pain in the ass to walk DOWN stairs that the second a machine will do it for you you just stop? And even if you are that lazy is there some reason you can't get to one side so those of us who aren't can get by?

Yeah Tyyr, I'm the kind of person you hate on the escalator, occasionally I do it just to be a jerk. Usually I slowly walk up or down the escalator in order to move quicker.

Ironically enough, Most people I know consider it rude to barge past on an escalator. Walking down is sorta...bad etiquette I guess.Tyyr wrote:Except you can get there quicker using the escalator and walking up or down it faster than the stairs.
