Y'all don't have an income tax, right? Is that why your sales taxes are so high?

Anyway, e-filed mine last night. Would have had a 5-digit refund coming, except for the penalty (over and above the taxes I paid) on a disbursement from a 401(k). Thankfully the only growth I had was inside a Roth IRA, so I finally escaped from capital-gains max-security prison.

There is an initial feeling of elation on getting a large tax refund; that quickly melts as I realize that I'm getting that refund only because that's how much of my money the government kept from me over the last year. Some is unavoidable, due to EIC's; but the code is so labyrinthine that it boggles the imagination.

I know we have income tax. An impossibly confusing tiered system where you get taxed a certain amount for a certain part of your wages.

I need a safe place to vent and friends to listen.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me.

Granted i'd fed the fuck up here, but I'm barely holding control. For the past couple of days I'm strung as tight as a wire. Things I'd normally shrug off as minor daily annoyances or irritatations are pissing me off beyond any resonable measure. I'm catching myself wanting to go off on people for saying the dumbest things, daydreaming about throttling people for minor slights, and even giving everyone at work a big "fuck you" and walking out.

I'm so pissed right now I have to consiously unclench my fist and jaw. Its taking ALL my self control not to flip out on people.

I can't explain why either.

I can relate. It's because you're surrounded by assholes.

Probably a bit more than that, unless he's been cut off from the rest of the human race for his entire life.

Things going pear-shaped at work? Tired? Trouble with the ladies? All of the above?

Mark, I can relate. I was feeling that way all last week, for reasons I'm still not sure of. Not quite to your extent yet but had that week not ended i would be there. Is there something that could be weighing more heavily on your mind than you realize? For me it was my unconscious worry about the end of my fraternity Process last week. How have you been sleeping?

All of the above. But I'm usually so good at shrugging these things off, it's disturbing. I think I can relate to Spock or Tuvok when they felt their emotional control slipping and couldn't seem to do anything about it.

Not so hot. Trouble falling asleep and then waking up. Averaging about 5 hours a night when my norm is 7.

I've been like that too, Mark. How much caffeine are you taking in? Has it increased lately?

Actually yes. Two or three energy drinks a day, at least two cups of coffee, and soda regularly.

You... might wanna cut that back, then. I've cut back on my intake and my sleep and nerves have begun improving.

Four to six cans a day.

The energy drinks are the increase.

Talk about aggrevation. My estranged other half got out of jail again where she learned that the gal she wanted to leave me for was using her. She reached out and felt me up right out front of my job and said "still mine".

I exploded. (Not in a good way either)
