Ah, Christ. Now we're going to get sued.

I agree with Reliant - Tennant had his moments but personally I think he was pants over all. Barely better than the Colin Baker version and he was an ar*e hole.Tyyr wrote:HERETIC!Reliant121 wrote:Personally, I prefer this guy to Tennant.

Re: New series starts toinght
I've watched this ep four times now, and I have to say I am liking Matt Smith. In the trailers he seemed a bit off... frankly he came across as being a bit like Mr Bean, with a fair bit of physical bumbling around and clumsiness. In the ep itself that doesn't really come across.
And there's one thing the Doctor has to be able to do, which Matt is doing very well. The Doctor's normal character for his last few incarnations is a bit zany, a bit madcap comic... but then he can switch into being serious, when he will threaten/warn some bad guy off... and it really shows through that this isn't just some smart guy you're talking to, this is a being that is rightly to be feared... something half a step short of being a god. Matt Smith hasn't done that a lot, but I can see some of it in the first episode.
I think he's going to do well.
Gotta say, though, hate the bow tie.

Oh, I enjoyed Tennants performances, Especially later on when he started to get serious (finally!). But I just find him a little...annoying.colmquinn wrote:I agree with Reliant - Tennant had his moments but personally I think he was pants over all. Matt Smith seems to encapsulate the madness that you come to expect, but give it just the right dose of omnipotence and power that comes with being a timelord. Tennant was a bit....clownish.

Tennant was alright initially, but by the end of his run he was worse than Six given his grumbling about regenerating.colmquinn wrote:I agree with Reliant - Tennant had his moments but personally I think he was pants over all. Barely better than the Colin Baker version and he was an ar*e hole.

Over all I rate the start of Series 5 at 4 out of 5 stars. It started out a bit odd, then ended quite well. I loved how the Doctor called back the ship in the end then asked his three questions. the best bit of the episode in my opinio was right after it showed the last ten doctors, he steps through the projection and says "I am the Doctor, and I only have one thing to say, RUN!". I think Matt Smith will be a decent Doctor. Ecclecson was a good Doc, I can see why he left after one season (only so far you can really take the 9th doctor and I'm sure he saw that after reading through the scripts (that and he didn't want to be type cast), as for Tennant, he was a good doc as well however paired with the writing that RTD favored and the formulaic season endings (the Duce Ex Mach endings) tended cause an otherwise good story to fall flat. Granted I loved the last episode of Tennants time, the end sceen was wonderful (I rate it at 4 1/2 stars knocked off a 1/2 star for the Duce Ex, would have been a full star or two but hte regeneration at the end made me revise it).
