Hi, kinda new to posting but oh well. Back to the subject.

I would take starfleet and decommission the aging TMP era vessels such as Miranda's, Excelsior's and Centaur's. Then use the raw resources of their construction to build up a new fleet of ships to replace them. Give the designers the chance to be ... inventive with their designing. Let them do as they wish (within reason  ). And since many people are very fond of the Defiant's i think a new sort of...enlarged Defiant should be made to compensate for the poor range of the Original. You have the range of a Sovereign (sorry if spellt wrong) or a Intrepid combined with the utter obliterative power of the Defiant. UNSTOPPABLE!!!!!!!

Oh please! He's nothing like me. Where's his dream of a starfleet empire. Proper battleships. Massive fleets! Sense of self style to his ships. At most he's a deepcrush in training! Hahahaha!

If you haven't seen one then build on. There is plenty of tech and resources to produce one. Also in truth the UFP isn't really in need of a proper battleship as much as it hurts me to say so. Starfleet would be better of with a large number of heavy cruisers and battle cruisers. Ships like the Sov are perfect for producing a Battle Cruiser Class. Though in truth they do need to look into improving some of the weapons on board.

WE ALL KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING!

Yes...Unfortunate. It seems that Starfleet may go down the Romulan route of smaller faster cruisers. I'll have to indulge megalomaniac fantasies elsewhere...

Sorry to say but its the other way around. Starfleet already uses smaller cruisers. The Romulans are now making the turn around. We should start thinking about what kinds of cruisers we would like to see from the Romulans.

What I want and what will be written into the show are likely going to be very different things...

Federation: decomission all the ugly kitbashes and make them into Galaxy, Nebula, Intrepid, Akira, Defiant, Ambassador, Excelsior, Norway, Miranda, Steamrunner, Saber, Sovereign, Prometheus, and Nova Class Ships. Also make marine training essential for all people who are in Starfleet at the time the war began. Follow Dominion style when it comes to building ships, it helps makes ships faster to replace losses. Install defense turrets in ships to take out invaders.
There is not a problem in this world that can't be solved without the proper application of a sufficient number of thermonuclear ordnance.

Turrets are a lovely idea. There's certainly enough internal volume in the ships to do it.

Of course, given writers, they would malfunction at need. And there would be at least one episode involving the turrets identifying crewmen as hostiles. Though I suppose that could be a good episode, done well. The A plot would be the efforts to fight past the turrets, the B plot would be about the interactions of good characters trapped together. But it would take a good writer to pull that off.

That would only be a good plot if it ended up with the death of everone on the starship. It's about time Starfleet's mass stupidity kicked them in the ass.

Well then, we'd want a story about how the defense turrets in Starfleet Command did that then, wouldn't we?
