I can agree with that. Given how in depth his look at Wrath of Khan was this does come off as very shallow.

Oh I'm sure there was something to it. It could also have been that he was lacking points to make on it. STVI was a solidly built movie. Very few things to trip over.

The same's true of TWoK. The difference, I think, is that while II had layer upon layer to peel away, VI was just very solidly built, which reduces the degree of analysis possible.

TWoK always strikes me as the thinking persons TMP film, because it had a plethora of hidden messages and subplots to tap into. In contrast, TUD always struck me as a more plain and simple film. Both are enjoyable and very well made, but TWoK always seemed deeper, where TUD seemed more....gentle and "switch off" film.

STII was for Khan. Thought upon thought, idea upon idea. A thousand plans with little sub-plans of their own.

STVI was for Kirk. Brash, brute and in the open. Kirk doesn't look for little tricks or ploys. He fights until he wins or dies. Then fights a little more for good luck.

Good review, there. It's... what ST VI was. A good review for a good movie.

I gotta agree. TWoK had a lot of stuff going on below the surface, TUC didn't. It's not a bad movie, in fact it's probably my favorite TOS cast movie, it's just not got as much going on as TWoK. There's nothing to pick at because of how well it was done and not a ton of depth to get into.

I'm inclined to agree. His TWOK review was so in-depth and detailed because it was a movie which required an in-depth and detailed analysis. TUC, despite being a good movie, is fairly simple. Thus we get a simple review.
