Except for:
1 - I don't believe that's as well-known as all that, and
2 - I'm pretty sure that MetalHead was referring to firearms.

I didn't really mean Tsar Bomba in particular, just nukes in general.Mikey wrote:1 - I don't believe that's as well-known as all that, and

In which case I'd imagine it's the AK-47. It's hard to find a gun that's more recognisable and prolific than that.

Going back a bit further there's also the Long Land Pattern and the India Pattern muskets - Brown Bess.

Re: Weapons and Warfare
Well, the Brown Bess wasn't much better or worse than any other smoothbore musket. It just had the good fortune of being the weapon of a globe-spanning empire.
I have to admit that Captain Seafort has managed to shock me. I was convinced that he would have mentioned either or both of the British guns that were the tops of their classes for their time - the SMLE, of course, and the Webley revolver.

Re: Weapons and Warfare
Was his pistol a Webley? I never noticed that closely... and it doesn't seem accurate. The Webley was an early DA and had a pretty damned stiff pull; Indy seemed to fire pretty effortlessly one-handed.

MG42 takes the cake didn't think about that, and yes I meant fire arms, small arms, etc. guns basically.

So the Tompson, AK47 and MG42 (though its kinda iffy IMO) seem to be good calls. The rest seem to fail when applied to the term notorious.
