Then why not refit the GCS and Nebula classes to do this? They seem able enough as it is. If you're going to build a whole new class of ship. It makes sense to build a class that you don't have, not something that you have a ton of already.

Well, at this point those designs are nearly twenty years old? Hardly cutting edge. And it would take more resources to upgrade the entire GCS and Neb fleet than simply build a new one from the ground up.

Well, according to the Tech Manual (and it makes sense and would seem to fit with how large the ship is) the GCS was designed with empty space to be dedicated to future upgrades, so some of the groundwork is already there.Mark wrote:Well, at this point those designs are nearly twenty years old? Granted.....and I'm not saying the GCS should be phased out either. But it IS a resource hog to build more of, especiall if you can design a brand new cutting edge ship with the same effort. And there aren't THAT many GCS's anyway.

Are those your own drawings?
Follow-up: to what do the terms "Loknar" and "Phobos" refer?

No they are not.
The last is the Defiant concept for DS9 back when it was called Valiant.

Mmm, thanks. I don't know if we'll see Mr. Hauck again, but in general: Credit work that isn't your own!McAvoy wrote:No they are not.
