Chekov wasn't part of the bridge crew at that point. He may not have known where they were at the time.Mark wrote:I also can't believe that Checkov never even metioned to Terell, "By the vay Keptin, de Ceti Alpha system, dis is vere de Enterprise madooned Khan and dos supermen."

Re: Kirk's Worst Command Decisions
Fair enough but Khan did know Chekov by sight though. I guess that's likely to mean that they were 'introduced' to each other.

I seem to recall reading somewhere, I believe on Trekmovie.com that Ricardo Montalban said in an interview that he likes to think Chekov was a poor junior officer somewhere who held Khan up trying to use the bathroom.thelordharry wrote:Fair enough but Khan did know Chekov by sight though. I'm not talking about the fact of the sentencing but the details of it. You went from this:Mikey wrote:The goalposts haven't changed - the authority to try Khan and the right to sentence him are inextricably bound. The relative leniency of the sentence is immaterial.
Arguing against Khan's marooning because he should have been sent to a civilian court. To this:Khan was a civilian, and should have been remanded to the court system for trial and sentencing.
Implying that your problem is now with the sentence itself rather than its origin.I guess the wicket is this: was Kirk out of bounds in applying the sentence that he did? In other words, was banishment to the planet a charted response to the crime?
Only two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe: Albert Einstein.

I don't see the dichotomy that you seem to. Ah well, we probably don't like the same foods either.

That's what Waler Koenig said at a convention I went to as well.Sonic Glitch wrote:I seem to recall reading somewhere, I believe on Trekmovie.com that Ricardo Montalban said in an interview that he likes to think Chekov was a poor junior officer somewhere who held Khan up trying to use the bathroom.thelordharry wrote:Fair enough but Khan did know Chekov by sight though. Or maybe it was Koenig. It was one of the two...RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:That's what Waler Koenig said at a convention I went to as well.Sonic Glitch wrote:I seem to recall reading somewhere, I believe on Trekmovie.com that Ricardo Montalban said in an interview that he likes to think Chekov was a poor junior officer somewhere who held Khan up trying to use the bathroom.thelordharry wrote:Fair enough but Khan did know Chekov by sight though. Re: Kirk's Worst Command Decisions
The EU novels that follow Khan and his exile have an excellent explanation for it, Chekov was the officer in charge of setting them up on the planet and escorting them down.

That being the case, you'd have figured he would have said something to Terell. Unless for some reason is was classified???

All right. No new ones, so I'll submit this list for a new poll. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply.
