Re: Poll ideas
Here's an idea, how about a "man of the episode" type poll, similar to the "man of the match" award you see in sport.
We take an episode, list the characters important to the plot and their actions, and see who people think was the star performer in the episode.
If you wanted to, you could do it episode by episode, with it eventually culminating in a "man of the season" award and eventually a "man of the series" award.
And if you did it that way, you wouldn't have to worry about coming up with a new poll idea for a few years.

Re: Poll ideas
The only problem with that is it would virtually always come out the same. Spock or Kirk would win for TOS. TNG would be slightly better because of the wider choice. Plus I think people would get bored.

I have both Kirks entrance in ST II, and McCoy on the landed pad listed in my "Greatest Entrance" suggestion above. I still dig McCoys outfit (man), he should have worn it for the whole film.Mark wrote:How about the best and worst dressed in Trek?
Best: Kirk during his entrance in ST II
Worst: McCoy on the landing pad after beam up in ST TMP
As for Kirk, he was blatantly just trying to impress Saavik, playing up to his image as a legend. So what if he was old and chubby, just put on a sprucey uniform and dazzle them with the old authority figure lark.

The best (or worst, depending on how you see things) villian decay. Who fell the furthest, went from being a true terror and threat from introduction to more of an annoyance? Obvious choices would be the Borg, Klingons, Romulans, and Q.
Re: Poll ideas
Viidians come quickly to mind.
The Kazon were always a border-line threat.
The Cardassians fell really quickly, REALLY far as well.

Yes, but they were presented from the start as being too dumb to find water despite having warp propulsion.Mark wrote:The Kazon were always a border-line threat.
I'm torn between saying Q or the Borg. Both were ruined by Voyager: I have to say it's impressive to turn a race of morally ambiguous omnipotent beings into comic relief, but the thing about the Q is that from the start, there was always this vibe that the Q just wanted to maintain order and put humanity in its place rather than conquer or kill us. I'm gonna go with the Borg, because they started out as a faceless, amoral techno-terror which threatened to gobble up the entire galaxy, and they turned into, "Oh, let's dodge those shitty green beams, blow up that cube with some phlebotonium and then have a friendly chat with the Queen."Lighthawk wrote:Obvious choices would be the Borg, Klingons, Romulans, and Q.

Re: Poll ideas
I have discussion threads going for all five LA series on their captain's worst decisions. I should be able to get enough choices for five separate polls within a week or two.

Re: Poll ideas
Not sure if it has been done but best ship death. There should be enough choices to make a nice poll out of it
Or we can even use the best red shirt death

Worst FX goof. The Defiant's inconsistant size. Riker's 'smart' phaser shooting what's her name in the chest instead of the head where he was aimming.
