It may not be so prevalent now, but there always used to be quite a large divide between North and South England on matters of unionisation. It was at least in the past a very Northern trend, probably because a lot of the primary and secondary industry we used to have was based in the North. Even now, at mum's work place, unionisation is an unbelievably rare thing. She's the only unionised member in the entire store, one of the larger Argos stores in the entirety of the south coast.

However there's unions for almost everything. I know that in the council social working teams, you can't get a job WITHOUT being unionised. Dad has about 7 to choose from, eventually going for USDAW. Teachers are pretty much always unionised, post office workers, lorry drivers, supermarket workers. Unions are everywhere, and are definitely here to stay.

According to the Taylor Law, Public Service Unions can't strike in New York State. That's Civil Service, like teachers or me (State Gov employee), so if we want to 'strike', we have to all get sick. It has happened once in recent history. :P

Well, today was fun, I didn't get to eat a bagel until 4th period, because I can't eat before I swim, well, not carbs, or I get really sick, and so I was extremely hungry. Then fourth period the reshead and another boy brought in food, for no reason seriously, they just decided to make food the night before. So we had junk food during english, yummy.

During lifeguarding we worked on doing spinal injury saves, which damn they are hard. But yeah, that was my day. And the girl randomly looked at me for like half the period, haha. The randomness of my day.

Strikes here in Maryland are not allowed to impact the Students. So we have the Work to Rule Strike. We're in at 7am, out at 2pm, no grading or planning at home. The end result is that rather then the school year ending in early June. It lasts until late July and parents go crazy because of the over run costs and delays in students getting their grades and Sports being placed on hold since all the coaches leave at 2pm.

Have you all heard of "Furlogh Fridays"? In Hawaii, they've reduced the school week three days a month. Students now have a four day week 3 out of 4 weeks a month. Why? So they'd be able to "legally" cut teachers pay.

This is the biggest conteested thing in the state now.

They did that here in MD too. The thing is that one of the people who works for the Teachers Union got a handle on the states budget and found out they had the money all along. They were holding out on us and got caught. So rather then five pay day cuts we only got two. They've also cancelled cost of living raises.

Never had to deal with this on the Federal level. If a Department there goes over the budget then they're screwed but it doesn't hurt EVERYONE else. Since they just block funding until they make up for it. Here at the State and County level its like watching headless chickens fighting over feed.

I'm rather pissed that GW basically abandoned their Specialist Gaming range. There was some damn good stuff there. BFG being one of them. In hindsight, you could see their approaching death quite clearly. It started when they gave up printing seperate magazines and stuff for each of the games, and instead lumped them all under the Fanatic magazine. Then they dropped the magazine and went to a website. Then they dropped the website and abandoned the games altogether. A damn shame.

On the plus side, at least all the rules and stuff are now freely available.

And Forgeworld still makes models for it. I think I'll start a blog chronicling the Army I'm starting from start to finish, don't have much else to do.

RMT being one of them. I'd like to get them all in one place and then man the machine gun....

Well, today was not all that fun, we had a intruder drill. Which was boring... It took way too long, but I guess that means everyone would be safe...

And we didn't actually do anything else today, seriously...

I just today realized how sensitive I am to other peoples plights. I was looking at some friends fb post and her parents are divorced, and I just stared at it for like a minute. I didn't know her parents were divorced before, but it makes sense, she's basically spoiled beyond belief, gets everything, and always seems slightly depressed.
It's just sad what people have to live with because their parents can't get along, I mean being spoiled is nice, but she's always getting short-tempered, and upset at the slightest things that I or others may say, and it makes sense now...

And I'm just overly sensetive to people, I always care too much, and yes, I mean too much, I put other peoples problems in front of dealing with mine, so I help people and the problems just pile up on me, and eventually I break down. And now it's all just making sense to me.

Wow, what happened last night that made me realize random stuff about myself...
