Yeah, that's what they did. However, they missed the part about sending them exclusively on civilian missions, rather than throwing them into the frontlines.

Wonder if Admiral Riker got a bit miffed when he tried to take a 21 year old Ensign down to his Captains Yaucht for an 'away mission' only to find its been replaced by a big laser of doom.

And I want to see one of those on a Nebula Class still. Hell, shove one on top of the mission pod too.

I'd say more than that - I believe 4 blasts of the lance destoyed a Neghvar with full shields! Which means 4x6 is 24 lots of Type X blasts - no where near to destroy a Neghvar. Maybe the lance is equivilent to 20 Type XII
