True but I would rather see something a little better built. I've had this idea for a ODP for Starfleet that would fit their building ideals and would be easy to produce. Cheap, powerful and somewhat pleasing to look at - that is the pretty red lights that line up the sides as they glow with fresh power from the M/A reactor (Four type X phasers) as the light waves are reflected by multiphasic shields and the interior power core heats up sending out a nice sensor bloom as the Rapid Fire QTL loads its first 10 shot auto feed with a 110 left just waiting their turns to be fired in mass against anything within range. Something so simple that it could be built by an industrial replicator.

I dont think and industrail replicator can make a M/AM reactor. It would be able to be mass produced but it would still need additional help. Like a mini fleet yard.Something so simple that it could be built by an industrial replicator.

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Yeah its the same reason you use artilary instead of cruise missiles a lot of the time. Cruise missiles while more acurate and powerful cost more.

Yes I know the M/AM systems would be more difficult to produce but thats fine by me as long as the bulk of the work can be done without the need for heavy labor.
Yes they are more difficult to make but such is life, I'm over it.
(Me and QTs have a fond friendship and trade emails on a regular basis.)
I like the idea of a mini fleet yard for production of ODPs. Then they could be transported to any system you want, deployed and left for some sucker to try and run through them!

Maybe it's for the better that we've never seen Starfleet orbital defenses on screen. We probably would have been horrified at what the writers did with them.

well they might not have a homeworld per se, but they do have planets

We saw a few planets in VOY, IIRC, that didn't appear defended by anything other than cubes.

If you wrote for ST they would change from the Federation into the Terran empire.Maybe I should do the writing for starfleets ODPs!
