Re: Worst fan-ships?
You know Tyyr, that wouldn't be too bad of a ship if it wasn't a obvious attempt at making a Trek Ship....
Re: Worst fan-ships?
If you check out the spects you will see it's supposed to be some type of carrier/command ship.Nickswitz wrote:One way I could see that as a nice idea, is if it had a large cargo hold down in the lower decks. It doesn't, but if it did the sensibleness of the design would increase at least a little bit, or if it was something like a drop ship, and it carried smaller ships or shuttles all in the bottom.
Trata las situaciones estresantes como lo haría 1 perro: si no puedes comértelo o jugar con ello, méate encima y lárgate!!!
Handle stressful situations as a dog would: if you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and get out of there!!!

Re: Worst fan-ships?
Yes, but the point GK was making was that there was too much wasted area, and it would be a very improbable design to get to all the area down at the bottom, and throughout the ship in general. However there are areas near the bottom that have escape pods throughout them, this would be pointless unless there were regularly people down there, otherwise people couldn't get to them quickly for an evac, therefore bringing me to the conclusion that there is workspace, or living space down in the bottom area. That means that there most likely isn't any shuttle space or other space down there...SomosFuga wrote:If you check out the spects you will see it's supposed to be some type of carrier/command ship.

And it's only 15 meters wide. In fact after looking at the rear view the "keel" only has a small maintenance craft bay at it's extreme bottom. For the most part that keel has nothing to do with the ship's stated function.

Re: Worst fan-ships?
So in the simplist of terms, the "keel" is utterly superfluous.

Re: Worst fan-ships?
...actually yes. Manta class. Apparently JoAT's standards are even lower than I thought.

Wow. The really sad part is that I was making a completely sarcastic joke about calling it a Manta.

Re: Worst fan-ships?
Its way too blue (though that may be because it is untextured).
And something about it is a bit fishey...

Re: Worst fan-ships?
Remarkably, the Manta class has been around the JoAT for several years, something like 4 years at least. As for the chariot class, that is a design worked out by a rather unconventional designer, he has a nkack for using unconventional and sometimes impractical designs, but thay are a very nice departure from the regular things I see at their A&D forum.
