It's funny, when word came out that they were making an eighth Star Trek movie (I was 6 or 7), I got it into my head that the new Enterprise would be a "Universe class", because... universe is the natural upgrade from galaxy.

Actually, wouldn't "Galactic Cluster" be the next step up?

According to John Eaves blog where the picture comes from it was considered but Mr Frakes and Mr. Moore pushed for a new one.

It's a Sovereign. :?
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Because it isn't a Sovereign. It is a step up just like the Galaxy from the Ambassador.
