Re: Survival: Topic discussion
Ya know, I just don't know if I'm comfortable devulging my plan to the guy who's stated goal it is to kill me.
However yeah, with the shotty its pretty obvious. The extra half turn I can use to fine tune my position relative to him before trying to remove his face.

Kill you fairly and by the rules.Tyyr wrote:Ya know, I just don't know if I'm comfortable devulging my plan to the guy who's stated goal it is to kill me.
Well now I'm wondering, how do the rules for holding actions work in 40k? In D&D you can use your held or readied action when and where you wanted. Is it the same here? Do you get to say "I'm holding until he reaches point blank to use my half action to fire"? or do I get to run the ork up to you and make his attack, and then you get an extra half action plus a turn? However yeah, with the shotty its pretty obvious. Could make a big difference in the results.

Re: Survival: Topic discussion
Okay found the rules for it. Delay saves a half action that you may use at any point before the start of your next turn. So go ahead and take your shot, the ork has run right up to you and is about to lay you open.

Ok, well I'll just assume the half turn was used to get me to death range.
BS of 51, +30 for point blank, +10 for a hulking target, +10 for SA. Target of 101. I roll... frak, just an 74.
So one hit +one for semi-auto and two more for scatter. 74 Means first shot hits the body, second the body, third the arm, and forth the head. The table doesn't specify the arm.
Body #1 = (4+4-8)=0 Damage
Body #2 = (7+4-8)=3 Damage. Ork at 5/15 wounds.
Arm #3 = (5+4-4)=5 Damage. Ork is at 0/15 wounds.
Head #4 = (6+4-4)=6 Damage. Ork is at -6 wounds. Crit damage is staggering from mind numbing pain, stunned for 1d5 rounds, and 2 levels of fatigue.

Ok. Holster the shotty, get the Las.
BS of 51, +30 point blank, +10 aim, +10 accurate, +30 stunned, -20 aimed shot at his head. Target of 111.
So two shots to his head.
First is (4+3-4)=3 Ork is at -9, crit is.... his brain explodes. So that'd be like a tiny fire cracker, maybe a little smoke from his ear.

I got to say, I love the image of Mir using a sniper las to tickle the brain of an ork standing so close he can probably barely fit the gun between himself and the target.Tyyr wrote:Ok. Holster the shotty, get the Las.

Hey, las ammo is free, shotgun shells are precious.
Besides, why dick around with it? I got a to hit of 111 even with a called shot so I'd say the mechanics reflect the situation. If I'd had a laspistol I'd have used that.

True enough.Tyyr wrote:Hey, las ammo is free, shotgun shells are precious.
The mechanics do at that. Well then, go ahead and write it up.Besides, why dick around with it? I got a to hit of 111 even with a called shot so I'd say the mechanics reflect the situation. If I'd had a laspistol I'd have used that.

Re: Survival: Topic discussion
Alright then, lets go ahead and roll on ye ol fear chart here...lets see, 58 is two degrees of failure, so +20...96. Panic grips you. You must flee the source of your terror as fast as you can. You gain 1d5 insanity points, roll: 4. You must get away from the source of your fear before you can snap out of it (roll and pass another WP test)Tyyr wrote:Damn it to hell, how many WP tests am I going to have to make?

That'll do it. Cut yourself a hole on through...and hope I never figure out how sarcastic that remark was.Sionnach Glic wrote:Right, damage roll V fence:
