Re: Dark Heresy: OOC Discussion/Dice Rolls...etc.
Ok, now its time to pull your head out of your ass OOC as well. It's got nothing to do with getting disintegrated it's entirely got to do with the whole gunship plan relying on three really big assumptions.
1) That the tunnel system dumps out some place that the gunship can target. What if it ends in a cavern, or a building, or anything that will obscure the gunship's sight. Hell, if it dumps out in the town around the base of the chathdral how's the gunship going to pick out the Overseer and shoot it.
2) That if it doesn't empty out somewhere obvious, say in another building or a cavern, there will be no resistance or so little that Karibi and Haxta can fight in to set the trap.
3) That the Overseer will not arrive before Haxta does set the trap.
If any of that goes south and I'd put money on #1 going south and probably #2 as well, the Overseer gets away.

It's shameless the way we flirt, huh?
The auspex reading said specifically that the tunnel leads into the wilderness. We know that Iocanthos has no towns around save for Stern Hope itself. As to caverns, etc.; you don't have a grav-chute any more. If the Valkyrie can't get a firing solution, it can't land you at the target coordinates either.Tyyr wrote:1) That the tunnel system dumps out some place that the gunship can target. Yeah, but in all seriousness, unless you wanna reroll a new character don't call Phebia a coward. She will put a bolt in Trask's head.Mikey wrote:It's shameless the way we flirt, huh?
Looking at the map of Stern Hope there's a big shanty town around it. The auspex has a 50m range. Any direction is heading out into the wilderness and any direction heads under the shanty town. The Valk can land and we can go indoors, into a cavern system, etc.The auspex reading said specifically that the tunnel leads into the wilderness. If the thing gets a clean shot. And I'd like to point out that the last time we dropped a building on it the thing got up and ran away. The Valkyrie has two heavy bolters, rocket pods, and a lascannon.
I think we have no idea how long the tunnel is, he's got a nine minute head start on us, if it leads into the town he could already be out of it.You think he can outrun a Valkyrie?

Re: Dark Heresy: OOC Discussion/Dice Rolls...etc.
I hate to resort to the banal, but the best way I can say it is this: you're saying that you can speak however you like because it's in character, but nobody else can speak in character? To that, I say, "Go fuck yourself." My character only said it because it's what he would say to someone who's supposed to be a Sister of Battle. You're really going to threaten people's characters because they're a) willing to actually role-play those characters, and b) don't just fall in line with whatever you happen to pronounce? That's fucked up.Tyyr wrote:Yeah, but in all seriousness, unless you wanna reroll a new character don't call Phebia a coward. She will put a bolt in Trask's head.
As to the rest, it's a moot point. You've decided to do something. Phebia's not my character.

Re: Dark Heresy: OOC Discussion/Dice Rolls...etc.
Mikey, seriously.
No, I'm trying to give you an OOC warning. In character calling a SoB a coward is something that will get your ass shot. Especially if the person calling them a coward is a psyker. Yeah, you're roleplaying Trask and I get it. However I'm roleplaying Phebia as well. Get your head out of your ass. I'm not holding it against you OOC because Trask called Phebia a coward because in the situation it's something you might think and that's fine. However IC Phebia is not amused.
Relevant Facts
1) Phebia has a deep hatred of pskyers of all kinds, sanctioned or not and for very good reason.
2) She's a Sororitas, a holy soldier of the emperor. Someone who's going to take their personal courage, integrity, and faith pretty damn serioiusly. As a group their entire job is killing or capturing witches and heretics.
3) She already think Trask has a habit of doing stupid things on impulse (like killing the crazy guy).
So in light of that what kind of reaction do you expect out of her? All I'm trying to do is give you an OOC heads up that if Trask keeps poking her like that IC its going to either end very badly or someone is going to have to start acting very out of character. From my point of view your current standpoint is, "Trask can act any damn way he pleases and Phebia damn well better just take it."
All I'm doing is giving you a warning OOC so we can both steer our characters away from what will be a very bad confrontation IC.
Yeah, right now I think the "everyone just chase him" plan is really really bad and relies upon Kendall playing nice and letting the gunship get the Overseer at the other end. Adding Phebia to the mix won't take down the Overseer. Again, even if I hit him 55% of the time I won't damage him anyways. And with the regeneration he can make it so 5% more of the time I won't do any lasting damage anyways. So only 2 out of 5 hits will actually wound him. I've got 3 rounds in the bolter that means only one of them will likely do lasting damage, a second one might, and I've got a 3 round reload. Think about that for a minute. Even if Phebia goes with ya'll and the Overseer did stop in the tunnels and decide to fight we're still fucked. Unless we all start rolling tens for damage we can't just shoot the guy dead. So from that perspective having Phebia with the chase party does nothing. The Overseer stops and fights we're fucked no matter how you slice it. However, between your sword and Deep's stubber you guys can kill constructs if you run into them, and I can do the same with Haxta if the gunship can't get a shot.
Hell, why are any of us going down the ruins anyways? Leave the storm troopers here to guard it and don't dig it out any more. EVERYONE go to the other end of the tunnel and lay a trap for him. The absolute worst outcome then is he holds up in the crypt and we just wait for heavier guns then go in and get him. If the thing was going to make a stand it would have done it in the Cathedral. It didn't, it ran.

OK, what's your plan?
Just FYI, Nurk won't fit through the door into the cellar. So you can leave him there with the Ripper if you so desire.

Question: I've been poking through the Inquis HB a bit, and I've noticed certain weapons having the Holy trait. Yet I can't find any info on just what being Holy means. What benefit does this grant a weapon?

All of this is just a facile rationalization for "I'm going to shoot you for doing the same thing I do." It doesn't matter how you recant it or re-couch it. Yeah, I get it - you're upset that someone doesn't just shut up and take your character's abuse, and even *gasp* disagrees with your character. Deal. IC, I call it like I see it. Don't want to get called a coward? OK, don't do things that would make other chars think that way. Threatening them is NOT a way to avoid that tag, BTW. OOC, stop it. I'm so sorry that I haven't decided to just make my character an NPC henchman of yours, but oh well.*snip Tyyr*
I think it overcomes the resistance to normal weapons of daemons.Lighthawk wrote:Question: I've been poking through the Inquis HB a bit, and I've noticed certain weapons having the Holy trait. Yet I can't find any info on just what being Holy means. What benefit does this grant a weapon?

Pg. 190 sort of covers it. It has certain effects on Daemonic and warp creatures and it's supposed to be noted in the creatures description.Mikey wrote:

For example, A Holy Weapon is not subject to the half damage penalty that most others are against a Plague Swarm.

Okay, finding some stuff now. Odd that they don't have an actual Holy trait entry like they do for every other weapon property.

Mikey, seriously. What the hell is up your ass that you can't stop for half a damn second and maybe reconsider that the conclusion you jumped to might not just be the right one. That maybe I'm laying it out just the way it actually is? It was a simple OOC warning to try and steer things away from a bad place IC. Not worded beautifully grant you but you're reading way more into it than there actually was and then getting pissy based off what you're assuming was meant.Mikey wrote:All of this is just a facile rationalization for "I'm going to shoot you for doing the same thing I do." Stop and think about it for one second. In reality if you walk up to someone who is heavily armed, solves their problems by burning them until they stop moving, hates not only you personally but your entire racial group, and would happily kill you if given even half a chance then call that person a coward to their face is it going to end with said person not responding in a less than happy way?

Actually, no I'm not. And if you'll recall the first snide remark in this was thrown by Trask. Hell, last I recall Phebia had actually cut back on the "witch" comments and they seemed to be working together just fine. She shot the construct in the back instead of Trask in the face. I'd call that quite a bit of progress. At least it was. Your character's the one that instead of working together or disagreeing civilly started getting snippy. If its IC fine but if you want to start bitching about IC abuse well open your damn eyes, Trask's been ladling out at least as much as Phebia.Yeah, I get it - you're upset that someone doesn't just shut up and take your character's abuse,
Stop, think, consider what's being said. You're so obsessed with calling Phebia a coward and suggesting that I'm one OOC that you can't even stop to consider that its a plan being pushed not to avoid getting killed but to actually try and complete the mission. If my goal was not to get blasted I'd be all going down through the cathedral and down the tunnel. Personally I don't think you've got a chance in hell of catching him with a 9 minute head start plus whatever it takes to dig through the remains of the cathedral.Don't want to get called a coward? OK, don't do things that would make other chars think that way.
Yes, she's a Sister of Battle, but that in no way precludes her thinking about the situation and coming up with a plan that goes beyond, "Run at them and shoot."
Stop what, proposing an alternate plan and just go do what ever your character says? Seriously, are you not seeing that every single thing you've said about me can't just be leveled right back at you?OOC, stop it. I'm so sorry that I haven't decided to just make my character an NPC henchman of yours, but oh well.

All right, I'm not a Mod but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night (they have nice mints) but this needs to stop. Now.
