Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Well I am off work with an inflamed ankle. I get this every once in a while; the padding between the bones swells up, which means that when I put weight on it it's quite painful. As a result I'm hobbling around the house and not really fit to go any further afield than that. I feel guilty when I miss work, knowing that somebody else is having to cover my classes. I don't like the idea of other people doing my job for me.

Get well soon GK. I currently have plantar fasciitis which, although getting better, can still be uncomfortable. Have you tried orthotic insoles? Not cheap but they really do help!

Thanks. I'm used to it, I do this twice a year and last year it was two nine week long outages. In a sick way I actually enjoy this kind of work. Loathe not getting to see my kids but for half an hour or an hour at night though.Vic wrote:Ouch, I'll be cheering for ya Tyyr.

Find out if your wife to be is the open kind. Let her live with ya'll but treat her like she's twelve. That kind of stupid is terminal and requires life long care.Lighthawk wrote:Well I got to get something off my chest before I explode from it.
My wife to be has this friend, sweet girl, very thoughtful...and sharp as a marble. I like this girl, but I also want to strangle her for having absolutely no common sense. And not just the "Oops, that was silly of you" lack of sense, the "Holy crap, that could have gotten you killed" kind.

'Hawk - Wow. Just... wow. It might not feel like the right thing to do, but you've got to stand her up and berate her like a stranger's kid trying to jack your bike.
GK - what condition do you have? I have terrible swelling on the inside of my left ankle, and it becomes very painful later in the day. I even thought it might be gout; my endo said he thought it was structural damage (sprain or some such,) and should be OK in a couple weeks. That was 10 weeks ago.

Yeah, that's why the next machine I'm going to get for myself is a mac, mostly because I need it for graphics design, well, don't need it, but I like doing graphics on computer, and macs are best for that by far.IanKennedy wrote:Nor does my Mac.Captain Picard's Hair wrote:My Linux machine never needs to be defragmented. 8)Nickswitz wrote:Currently watching my Vista machine defragment, which is nowhere near as fun as the previous OS's. Aye, that would be a nice solution if I thought it had any hope. Stick her in the guest room and require her to tell one of us where she's going, and to call when she gets there and leaves. I really do worry about her.Tyyr wrote:Find out if your wife to be is the open kind. Let her live with ya'll but treat her like she's twelve. Aye, my woman's already done that, and believe you me, she can do that much better than I could. She doesn't think our friend here really gets it though. Nothing overly terrible has ever really happened to her, so I don't think she really believes or understands how bad things could have turned out.Mikey wrote:'Hawk - Wow. Just... wow. Good Lord, I pray she just doesn't have to find out the hard way.

Well, all at once I'm getting Facebook friended by a gaggle of people from high school. I actually have mixed feeling about that, as my high school experience wasn't the best. (Of course, alot of them a girls who STILL remember and miss me.) One wants me to call her when I get in town, and I haven't seen her since we were 17.

Even people who do find out the hard way sometimes don't learn anything. Frustrating as hell, but you just have to shrug, and go on about your own business.Mikey wrote:Good Lord, I pray she just doesn't have to find out the hard way.

Wow Hawk, that's messed up.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
