Does it involve ties? Then it's fancy.Lighthawk wrote:I wouldn't call what we're doing fancy...not really.

Polling for the Lisbon Treaty is today. Got my vote in an hour ago. Here's hoping it goes well.

Doesn't matter. If Sarky doesn't like the answer, he'll just make you vote again.Sionnach Glic wrote:Polling for the Lisbon Treaty is today. Got my vote in an hour ago. Here's hoping it goes well.
Lighthawk - you're obviously aware of the three rings of marriage? The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffer-ring...
I kid. There's nothing I can tell you to make you less nervous, but I can tell you that it would be odd if you weren't. I did find a trick that helped, though - I started drinking at about 9:00 am the day of my wedding. A lot.

Actualy, rumour has it that Sarkozy is opposed to the Lisbon Treaty. And since it requires his signature to come into effect, it's possible that even if Ireland does ratify it, Sarkozy will kill it anyway. If that happens then I may actualy like the French.Mikey wrote:Doesn't matter. If Sarky doesn't like the answer, he'll just make you vote again.

I'd guess it would take a lot more than this to make up for his past treatment of Ireland.

Heh, my wedding was a Japaneese Tenrikio ceremony. Not ONLY did my brother in law stay by my side to keep me from collapsing in fear OR running away and leaving his sister at the alter, I didn't understand two words of the ceremony, EXCEPT with the minister (who was dressed like a Samurai minus the swords) talked to me in English. In that particular ceremony its traditional for both the bride and groom to take three sips of Saki each. Nobody TOLD me this, and taking my natural inclinations as well as abject terror into account, they handed me the drink and I thought it was for my nerves. I downed the entire cup.Lighthawk wrote:...okay, would someone who's been through the wedding thing throttle this simpleton for me.Tsukiyumi wrote:What's there to do? Easy peasy.
...Unless of course you guys decided to make a big fancy deal out of it. In that case: good luck.
I still get crap about that.

That's funny Mark.
Hey Lighthawk, don't worry, it's like Mikey said, it would be really odd if you weren't nervous. You've chosen to start a new chapter of your life with a partner. Now all of your decisions have a great impact on not only you, but also the one you love. Everything will be fine, trust me, she is just as nervous. After all of the preparations, and all of the head-ache, you and your new wife get to leave first.
P.S. I swatted Tzu for ya.

Even if the Irish chicken out second time round, again, there's still a possibility that we'll get a crack at Lisbon, ratification or no ratification, when the Tories get in next year.Mikey wrote:Doesn't matter. See, I might actually go for a Japanese wedding ceremony. The rest of them sound like a bunch of bullsh*t to me.Mark wrote:Heh, my wedding was a Japaneese Tenrikio ceremony...

If I am to have a civil partnership then to be honest I'd like to have a small, cosy and above all else quick one that takes very little time to get it all signed, mainly because i dont like all the attention.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
From what I've heard, there seems to be discussion about the UK population being allowed to vote on it, and Czekoslovakia's government is apparently opposed to it as well. So between those two countries and Sarkozy, it's possible that it may still get struck down.Captain Seafort wrote:Even if the Irish chicken out second time round, again, there's still a possibility that we'll get a crack at Lisbon, ratification or no ratification, when the Tories get in next year.Mikey wrote:Doesn't matter. And we may very well end up relying on them, since it looks like the yes vote is starting to win over here. We'll know for sure this evening.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Last night I went to see Star Trek XI again, and it was better the second time IMO. I actually enjoyed the constant panning, it did seem shaky, but the second time through it made it a lot more enjoyable since you could end up seeing a lot more of the action through a large area. And Scotty does have a tribble! And it's purring through an entire scene. I hated the last scene with Scott, when he told the little guy to get down, it was just stupid, funny stupid, but it was extremely stupid...
This is st my reflections after the second showing. Can't wait til it comes out on DVD, especially the directors cut.
