Names

Post by IntrepidPrincess »

This thread is for members to post and discuss the meanings behind their names.
This can include the reason(s) you chose that name for ditl, what that name translates to (in any language), anything you want to tell us about the history of that name, etc.
Do not feel compelled to reveal if it is your true name or not.

I'll start. I chose "Intrepid" because it is Voyager's class, and I love Voyager (go to my blog http://www.voyagerprincess.blogspot.com if you want to know why).
I chose "Princess" because that is what my real name translates to in Hebrew.

 If you're reading this, IT'S YOUR TURN NOW!

All around here I see
friendly smiles to comfort me,
strong hands to protect me,
fast feet to run after me,
loving friends and family
to always be here for me.

Well, back when I got into the internet way back in 2001, I joined a gaming group through a friend at work called the Radiant Knights. Although we're not as tightly-knit as bvefore, we're still friends. Anyway, we all had SNs, so mine was Striker. I was the fifth one to join, hence 5.

So my name expanded is Radiant Knight Striker, fifth Jedi Knight.

And I like the Intrepid as well, Princess. :)

It's my rank upon retirement from the CF and my last name, it's also my RL title if I slap (Ret) at the end.

Mine's the Japanese god of the honorable underworld.

Mostly, I picked it because I figured it would sound cooler than just "Preston". :)

Mine's pretty simple....Staplic is pretty close to my real last name (and is what I commonly use as a screen name)...I added the Lt. because at the time I registered there were two or three people online with ranks in their name (Captain Seafort I recall and a few others)
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

"Lazar" is my middle name, and I've always quite liked it, so I tend to use it as my online handle.

Me, Myself and I... there really was no great thought process behind it. It was the most generic, anonymous, somewhat humorous name i could come up with and in no-way relates to my real name so dirty old men with unmarked vans full of candy wouldn't be able to track me down. :-)

I can't say why I chose mine... security risk.
Other than being fond of the little blue guy, I mean.

I got my screen name from the lads mag 'FHM' (British version). We're talking circa 1996 and they had a column in one issue dedicated to weird things people do or exclaim whilst orgasming and this one girl wrote in to say that her boyfriend shouted out "by the Lord Harry!" during the act. I fell about the place laughing and when the internet eventually arrived for the masses, I always used it as a screenname :)

the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to
know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is
to have succeeded.”
