"Very true," Trask replied. "If they are expecting us to travel straight through, we might even avoid a problem by altering our schedule."Tyyr wrote:1945 Day 2
Phebia leaned back against one wall of the truck bed. "I was thinking, it might not be worth it to push all the way to the Abbey as fast as we can. If a witch is arrayed against us they could use their sorcery to track us far more covertly than with the flock of ravens. Perhaps the animals along the way were possessed but not made to follow us? Why tire ourselves out if any hope of a covert approach is gone?"
2001, Day Two
As the half-track ground to a halt, Milo stood in the bay. "I'm going to see if the area is clear," he announced to nobody in particular. He squinted for a moment, then drew everyone's attention as he crouched, whimpering, with his hands over his ears as if he were being assaulted by some terrible noise. Finally he fell to his knees, then drew himself up while shaking his head to clear it. He looked around foggily for a momnt. Upon seeing the suspicious stares of the group, he said, "It's alright. There's only me in here." He tapped the side of his head for emphasis and went on, "The area is clear of people, but theres a good handful of animals - rats, I guess, and maybe some of those crows a few dozen meters away."
