Funny, I see it as The X-Files without aliens, and with characters who have common sense.

I thought Primeval was initially a hell of a compromise between FX and story, but they'e seemed to have fallen into a very formulaic rut.

Laila Rouss is cute, though.

Primeval got fucking stupid. The worms... not that bad, but the raptor one was just an orgy of idiocy.

What did they do to the poor raptors? Those unfortunate creatures can never get a break.

You make a valid point.

Well, I'll agree on the writing of that ep. Though do remember, real humans tend to be that stupid in a crisis too. However, Rochey, when you said "What did they do to the poor raptors? Those unfortunate creatures can never get a break." what did you mean?
If referring to the looks, that was about as accurate as you can expect considering half the scientists say they had feathers while the other half say they didn't, and then there's the ones who say they sort of had feathers. Making the dinos look real is very difficult since they don't actually have one.

I was reffering to how practicaly every single show and film seems to fuck them up entirely.

You mean like every single time they show velocirapters (which are supposed to be the size of turkeys, not people), they are actually showing a dinonichus (I hope you know which one I'm talking about, because I cannot spell its name for all the gold in California).

Yeah, that bugs me a bit.

Could be worse. They could make them pink with purple polka dots.

Yep, that.

Oh, and it's "deinonychus", by the way. :)

Interestingly enough, there was a planet in TNG named "Deinonychus." And yes, those are commonly shown when "velociraptors" are mentioned. The good news is that many depictions do show the deinonychus attacking by an overhead leap, slashing with it's preternaturally large center talon, which is verified by fossil evidence of the foot and hip - they had an atypical waistline development for an ornithopod, lending credence to the idea of jumping attacks.

What is also poorly depicted is that evidence leads one to believe that both velociraptor and deinonychus hunted cooperatively, in packs the size of modern timber wolf packs or larger.

Which is what always made them more terrifying than other prehistoric predators, to me. :worried:

Agreed. Although, a seven-inch bone kukri coming down on top of you with a half-ton dinosaur behind it is, I think, scary enough on its own.
